What does DATA CAPPING really mean ?

I'm not too sure If I understand data capping in ISP's But does it mean like if the isp gives you 20gb of Cap per month if you download a file thats worth 20gb you reach the cap? Not too sure on how it works

yes thats how it works

some ISPs will completely shut off your internet connection after those 20gb, others will slow your connection down, and others will start charging you more

it depends on the ISP

Yeah, that's how it works.

With your example, you can download 20GB worth of files per month. Anything exceeding that will either:

- not work. your ISP will just stop your internet

- be slow. as in your ISP (heavily) lowers the speeds

- cost you money per GB/MB.

 

Thankfully ISP's don't have a data cap on home internet :D

I am not sure. Maybe? I have heard him say in the past that he sometimes downloads games at work (the office)

 ohh thanks guys Thank god I don't have a data cap. but a new ISP is offering me 50mb with a 150gb cap per month my current is a 10mb/s no cap They cost the same though

Called them a few hours ago it seems My internet would get really slow if I've consumed the 150gb cap. Their could be a chance my speed won't reach 1mb/s Lol I might stick my 10mb/s no Cap for now
