There is no game that requires such hardware.

Only if you want to play at 4K resolution at ultra settings.

Why settle for meh or ok when you can have good, great, awesome.  :D

Sounds like your asking why do people go out of their way to do something fun when you can just sit on the couch and watch somebody else do it on the t.v. instead.    Kinda like going out to and getting an ice cream bar instead of walking outside to grab an icicle hanging from your roof to lick, Because the ice cream tastes better.

*edit

When I build a unit I want it to last 8-10 years not 2 and have to re-build because it went obsolete to quickly. Besides that gives me 8-10 years to save up for the next build.  ;)

One time decent investment = longevity.  :D

One time low investment = short life span.  :(

Not everyone can afford it tho.

Some people're saving for years, to get a single gtx 980 & good cpu.

If somebody has 980ti sli, it doesn't mean he would upgrade it tomorrow.

Also, it's very cool to just play on eye-candy settings and relax :)

This is an odd question.  I mean, I like to play on ultra settings because I find it visually appealing.  If you don't like ultra settings and don't find it visually appealing, then you probably shouldn't play on ultra settings.  I bought a 980 ti because I love playing games at high frame rates and high visual settings.  I mean.....this comes off as stealth envy OP.  The real question here is why you so jelly?

Oh signature time!  It's on now, gonna give ya somethin snarky and clever and think way too hard about this because I'm really concerned about what people on the internet think of me.  Better google some good quotes to put in here too.....oh wait I'm not a loser.

This, totally this. I spend an hour last night in Valley messing with my settings looking for a little more power.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I have low end hardware, so yeah, I have to deal with a mix of low-med-high depending of the game, I would never turn resolution down though.

But if I could go with ultra settings, then why not?
