Washing Motherboard ?

so i found this guy on Indonesia Computer Forum, he showed that he washed his Motherboard, for a second i thought the motherboard is a shitty 2000 motherboard turned out it was MPower Max which is cost alot of money. the Question is, is this guy trolling or not ?

Washable keyboards why not washable motherboards?

I don't see the point but if he wants to risk wasting his money let him.

There is pretty much nothing that can happen to a mobo if it's off and the battery is out.

 

 

It could corrode after a while, but even that is doubtful since manufacturers don't really put anything that corrodes into mobos anyway.

It's from XOC with LN2 or DICE, you need to prevent condensation with LET or thermal electric grease, you can put motherboards in the dish washer aswell.

I tried this with my cheap membrane keyboard once and didn't dry it fully so pressing 'a' outputted to q1as

it works but its risky

some stuff can get damaged if you use the wrong soap or water or you dont dry it right

I'd say it's ok so long as it is COMPLETELY dry or you run a risk of a short circuit...btw I recommend you highlight my post SPAS

I'd be more concerned about removing all of the detergent residue than the water.

 

Fifteen minutes in an oven at 225 degrees F will take care of any water.

Let it sit in a Tupperware container submerged in +80% alcohol for a hour or so, then brush off all the junk, then let dry for a day-week depending on humidity and temperatures.

There are many metals in motherboards for example, Lithium which in the tiny quantity there is will desolve, stopping the MB from working. This method does not work WHAT SO EVER!!! Do not try as a majority of the metals in the motherboard will ether dissolve or be damaged.

This would only take effect if you don't dry properly or if you use certain soaps or water.

You only really run the danger of damaging traces with corrosion if you leave the CMOS battery in there. All other corrosion the board may encounter is merely superficial if you dry it well.

I still wouldn't recommend it if it's not necessary because some parts, especially the socket pins, are very fragile and could get damaged when rubbing them.
