Facebook... SPYING?!?!

Gregrs

This is something I've been seeing on Facebook recently.

Better safe than sorry is right. Channel 13 News was just talking about this change in Facebook's privacy policy. Better safe than sorry. As of September 26th , 2015 at 01:16 a.m. Eastern standard time, I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, or posts, both past and future. By this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates. DO NOT SHARE. You MUST copy and paste

Let me tell you why this doesn't matter. The NSA has been, and still is, spying on you. They already see the shit you post to

Facebook, they already see the texts you send, they already see your search history. It doesn't matter. So by saying "we don't want you to do this" isn't actually going to do anything. You think the NSA is going to stop what they're doing because some people don't like it? Hell no. Just stop posting this unnecessary crap that is ultimately useless to anyone who reads it.

Like a little block of text like that will stop them...

and that will most likely be buried under all the other stuff if you're active...

That "statement" doesn't mean anything. If you accept their TOS (hint, if you're on facebook you have already) there is nothing you can do. Delete your account if this bothers you. If not, continue giving ALL of your info away for free.

Actually that statement is invalided since you accepted the terms of service ( including each instance its updated ) and its privacy policy.

Facebook login page says the following "By clicking Sign Up, you agree to our Terms and that you have read our Data Policy, including our Cookie Use."

so i tell people this also includes every time you login, if you want this statement to be true deactivate your account, including Instagram and stay away from the services facebook owns which is like 50+ companies. :D

Please Quote so i know you have replied. | If we have provided a solution to your problem mark it with answer found.

And also please read the COC and avoid the embarrassment and lecture that will ensue.

Copy/pasting that "statement" to your facebook wall will do absolutely nothing.

You can't just make your own "change" to the facebook ToS just because you don't agree with certain parts of it.

Truth is, Facebook, google, microsoft, apple, all those companies are spying on you(and many more), using the information you are willingly giving them (in the case of facebook) or not (with microsoft telemetry), to either to give you a better service/fix bugs (in the case of microsoft) or serve you ads/sell your info for money (in the case of facebook and google).

Don't like it? There's only ONE thing you can do, nothing else will work, and that is to just discontinue your use of the service in question. Meaning close your facebook account, don't use google, switch to linux, etc, etc, etc.

Sometimes I'll go on a website, even if I type the site directly into the browser, and then the same day or a few days later I see an advertisement for the same site in my Facebook news feed.

We all have fell victim to spying. Do you really think Facebook before they changed their privacy policy were Angels? Ever wondered how such big social network is and yet it is free? If something is free, you are the product. I am sure that Facebook sells information to agencies to earn money.

If a service is free, there's a huge probability, that they sell information about you. Still can't use air instead of money for salary :D

copy/pasting that will do literally nothing since you agreed to facebooks terms of service. while its great to make a statement, its pointless.  facebook owns everything you post. that includes every single picture and video that you decide to upload, they can do whatever they want with it, and there isnt a thing you can do about it other than stop uploading things, and stop using their services. this isnt new. its not even spying, you agreed to give it to them
