Valve writer says Half-Life 3 will not be a VR game

Source 2: http://www.vg247.com/2015/09/24/half-life-3-wont-be-a-vr-game-says-valve-2/

Half-Life 3 confirmed!? Maybe. At EGX (Eurogamer Expo) Valve writer Chet Faliszek has confirmed that Half-Life 3 will not be a VR game. When asked if Half-Life 3 would be a VR game, he replied with a simple "No." When asked again he said "I said no" and then went on to discuss the bandwidth requirements of VR headsets

So, here's what I think. If Half-Life 3 wasn't being developed, when Faliszek was asked the question, he would have replied that Half-Life 3 wasn't in development. Instead he responded by saying that Half-Life 3 will not be a VR game (which IMO is a good thing). This implies that Half-Life 3 is in development. Could have been a slip up, but who knows. The Gabe giveth and the Gabe taketh. While this news is concrete....ish....? I would still like to hear some actual concrete info about the game.

So ya, believe the hype? Maybe. I'll let you decide on that one.

Yeah, this is just another "reading too far" into something someone said to "confirm half life 3"

The guy was probably just frustrated with getting that question.

Gaben already makes enough money off tf2 hats and cs:go skins. Why bother paying extra devs?

Of course it won't.

By the time it's released, we'll be able to plug ourselves directly into the matrix.

It can't be a VR Game if it's not an actual game to begin with...

Even if it comes out, I'll never admire Valve like I did back during the Portal 2 days.

Valve hasn't done sh*t in years except toy and exploit the community's work for self gain, Source 2 (with no announced games as far as I'm aware), and SteamOS which hasn't really done much except bring a few more games to Linux. HL3 was basically done before they even released HL2E2, and it's been over 8 years since. What the f*ck could they possibly be doing except either outright not doing it or just pushing it down the line indefinitely? Their policy of no transparency is bordering on insulting for their 'true fans'.

*flips table in nerd rage*

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

If half life 3 isn't a game that will exist, then it also isn't a VR game, saying no is accurate if it's not being developped.

It would be dumb to release HL3 as a VR game, we don't know everything of what is good and bad for a VR game.

Well, knowing Valve's capabilities when they ACTUALLY MAKE A F**KING GAME, they would set those standards.
