Half-Life 3 confirmed!? Maybe. At EGX (Eurogamer Expo) Valve writer Chet Faliszek has confirmed that Half-Life 3 will not be a VR game. When asked if Half-Life 3 would be a VR game, he replied with a simple "No." When asked again he said "I said no" and then went on to discuss the bandwidth requirements of VR headsets. 

 

So, here's what I think. If Half-Life 3 wasn't being developed, when Faliszek was asked the question, he would have replied that Half-Life 3 wasn't in development. Instead he responded by saying that Half-Life 3 will not be a VR game (which IMO is a good thing). This implies that Half-Life 3 is in development. Could have been a slip up, but who knows. The Gabe giveth and the Gabe taketh. While this news is concrete....ish....? I would still like to hear some actual concrete info about the game.

 

So ya, believe the hype? Maybe. I'll let you decide on that one.

I wouldn't expect much from Valve at this time.

 

The most likely game to come out next from Valve is Left 4 Dead 3, not Half Life 3 when you consider the info that has been accidentally leaked so far.

 

In a way, that disappoints me but then again I've been used to that since Episode 2 came out 8 years ago.

Has Valve even released a game in the past five years?

They have released 3 games in the last 5 years. But nothing in the last 2 years. They seem to do a lot of content updates for their current games. Even moved Dota2 to a whole new engine

It's obvious they are very active. But i think the problem we all have with them is that they do not seem interested in making big singleplayer AAA games anymore.

Why would a PC Dev, make a console exclusive game

 

it could be PC exclusive, but half life has been multiplatform in the past with PC as lead

console gamers are more likely to pay full price, less likely to use bitorrents etc, It is unlikely since Valve is not Bungie.
