Google in talks to bring Google Fiber to 3 more cities

Good news: Google is in talks to bring Google Fiber to Irvine, California; Louisville, Kentucky; and San Diego, California

(Semi) Bad news: They're just considering it at this point

If you live in one of those 3 cities, make your opinion known to Google that you want them to roll out Google Fiber in your area. In talks does not mean confirmed, so make it known that you want Fiber! Anyways, I always love to see Google Fiber (possibly) expanding to more cities. I just wish it would come to Tampa already.  :(

San Jose, Irvine and San Diego but not Los Angeles?

I understand the US legislation on communications is a bit pro-monopoly/cartel. Is this the reason why Google plans to circle around a major city?

edit: Took another glance at a map and found that San Jose isn't even close to Los Angeles. ^_^ But still?

As of 2013 Los Angeles was planning on rolling out their own fiber internet, but I don't know how that is going. I know Google does a lot of research and doesn't bother with places that already have some sort of FTTH plans in the works.

And for business fiber lines, Los Angeles is already well covered, so residential can't be far behind.

For Irvine, it'll more than likely happen. They've been in talks with The Irvine Company, which owns most of Irvine's land and there's fiber everywhere there already.

Forget Dayton and Oxford, Columbus is the capital. We need it more than you guys do.

When was the last time that city did anything useful for the state? Cincinnati does more for the state economy and wellbeing, and it's not exactly a shining example either. Make good out of what you've got and then you get more to do better with.

I'll have you know, we have the OSU here in Columbus and the German Village, where they have the best food trucks and random restaurants. Clearly that does more for the state than any other city. Football and food, what else does the state need?

I work from home for a company out in Cincinnati and all I have to say is ATT's back bone infrastructure sucks.  If I MTR any other company out there that has a Level 3 connection or hey even a Bell connection it's fine but my company is connected to ATT which means higher average latency and lag spike that compete with the Burj.  ATT promised to roll out more fiber to home owners if they could buy DTV but if they don't back that fiber up with a good back bone it's just going to be a waist.  In short I feel sorry for anyone living in Ohio that has to connect to ATT.

If you want to see what should be done look at what the little town of Sandy OR did.  Man if they can run fiber why can't my town run fiber?

Right, because Ohio State actually makes money on football. Oh wait, no it doesn't if you actually bothered to read the university's budgets and expenditures! Miami at least makes the state money.

You have the German Village, but we have Bagel & Deli with sister shops in Chicago and Baltimore. You have the Ohio State football team, but we have your coaches as graduates. You have the state's capitol building, but we have Robert Frost's top vacation spot. You have a bigger supercomputer, but we have the better programmers (by far). Your former president also tried to exclude Miami and other better schools from the state's university list, and lost, after Miami fired him for gross incompetence. We're also the alma mater of Paul Ryan and Dick Farmer, one a distinguished politician and the other a businessman who practically alone built Cincinnati's metropolitan face.

Oxford and Miami have you beaten across the board in local eateries, scenery, academics, and overall worth to the state.

You also have to voice this in your local government.
