Really, why not?

You don't know what you'll be tested on - they said speed and accuracy.

Words of a true genius, I love it

Also I still think the IQ test should be retired and the military spatial reasoning test to be introduced, if the IQ test was a more accurate measure of intelligence then the military would use it, but they don't, they use their spatial reasoning test.

Spatial reasoning? ... Would that not be biased towards males since they have better spatial reasoning, on average, than females?

Just saying.

Well by state issued tests for some courses i have an I.Q. of 168, but you're correct, they really don't mean that much.

a nice bragging point, though :P

When I was 15 I got 156 IQ score in test by MENSA. That said IQ, especially on the internet, doesn't show much about your intellect. It show you are great at finding patterns and logical thinking. If you are great at IQ tests you are usually alsp quiet good at math.

Also most of those test doesn't tell you what IQ scale they are using. The IQ scales differs alot. Some have the average IQ between 85-95 and some have it between 160-180.

322 +/- 57.

IQ is completely irrelevant. The only thing relevant is your achievements.

A good rule of thumb is: Anyone who is boasting their IQ is a worthless human being.

Why, you ask? Because that means there's nothing else to boast about. It's just an empty achievement that isn't yours to begin with, it belongs to your parents and those who raised you, but even then it means pretty much nothing.

If you want to brag about how smart you are then boast about actual accomplishment like your grades.

That's not true (from what I know). 100 is always the median on normal IQ tests.

Another interesting things about IQ tests is that someone who got 100 IQ 30 years ago, will only get about 90 IQ in a new test. That's because the average person gets smarter for each generation, and since the median is fixed at 100 it means that each ~10 year your IQ drops by ~3. You're not getting dumber, but people around you are getting smarter, and that lowers your IQ.

It's also worth noting that an IQ test does not test knowledge, it tests intelligence. Knowledge is when you know something, like that the first capital of Assyria was Assur. Intelligence has more to do with problem solving and logic.

With that being said, I highly doubt that the test OP linked is accurate, especially since it even gives you the answers afterwards, and it seems like the questions are always the same, I bet that quite a few people in this thread cheated and looked the answers up.

We had another "What's your IQ?" thread a while ago.

I'd like to know where you got that number from. Seems like a way too big range to be a legit test.

Well, it is a normal distribution so both the median and average must be 100, but internet tests probably have a different average because they should try to emulate the real average and not use the average of their userbase. If an online test used the average of their userbase then it would get screwed up incredibly fast since, from experience, people do it several times to try to get the max points, which would severely affect the average IQ. It makes a lot of sense for the website to use pre-established IQ scores.

I know Wikipedia is not a relibale source, but they talk abot the different IQ scales that exists. The problem is that IQ is not a given standard

IQ does not require a standard as it has a normal distribution. The problem is not the standard but the fact that the limited sample of the population is not statistically accurate.

You do not seem to get it. Everything that entails your life directly influences your psychological makeup.

It does not matter if we are all from developed countries with decent educational systems, we are still very different because of the culture of where we grew up and how we were treated in relation to others based on our race. Prejudice exists whether it is actively displayed or not. That something that humans do not lose. It is built into us by our culture and the simple fact we are human.

That, and being younger (of a different demographic) does not directly mean you will have a lower score. IQ is meant to not entail specifically knowledge, but your ability to understand, perceive, and manage it. As you are 15, you are going through hormonal changes in your body that could very well make you better at something than others older than you because of how the IQ test is designed. I am not well versed in psychology enough to analyze the test and tell you why you got a higher score, but I know it is perfectly possible for you to get one even though you are younger than us.

Anyway, you get the idea I hope.

I understand where you're coming from, but that would suggest that I would have these skills at this age, but then as I get older, these skills would begin to deteriorate, which doesn't really make sense to me, as I'm sure there have been people in a very similar demographic to me taking this test in this post.

I didn't find the questions of the test to be very stupid, at least not most of them. To my mind, the only thing about the test that required any kind of prior knowledge was the "rearrange the letters" parts, where you would have to be familiar with english. Most of the questions revolved around problems where all you needed to solve it was the information given and logic. Tests like these bring up stuff that you don't really have any experience in and it forces you to look at the problem and figure out patterns to determine the logic that lies behind it. I would say that thinking like that is universally the mark of intelligence. That's not to say i would rely on the test to give accurate answers to anyones smartness, but I would go as far as to say that anyone claiming the questions didn't make sense at all probably wasn't all that smart.

It always amazes me the mis-information out there about IQ.  As #LAwLz and #Canoas has said, the results are a distribution that should resemble a bell curve with the peak at 100. It is also a test done that can centre on varying attributes of intelligence, for example a test can concentrate on abstract reasoning or it may centre on performance and others can concentrate on verbal IQ.  If a tests is not standardised to result in the average being between 90 and 109 then it is not accurate.

IQ tests are very complicated and should be taken with a grain of salt unless you are trained to know what you are look at and why.

Listen to windspeed36 he is wise and anyone who quotes Einstein has something worthwhile to say. :D

EDIT: online IQ tests are usually highly inaccurate at the best of times.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I've passed all the ADFA and general tests but I've got to do specialist ACO testing.

Just watching the news recently should give you a similar impression, Although I'd rather not be associated with either at the moment. Waaaaaay too dangerous.

I never knew that but remember that there are loads of females in the military and they seem to have done just fine so I don't know.
