What to do after PC build and OS install?

umalip

Hi All, I will post pics once my build is complete, but i have a few questions...

List of Parts
CPU: i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: Corsair h100i gtx
Mobo: Gigabyte GAz97x ud5h bk
Memory: hyperXFury 2x8gb
GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX 960 2gb
Storage: m.2 samsung 250GB
Storage: WD Blue 1TB
Case: Fractal Design Define S
Psu: Corsair CX750M

Once i put all these parts together and install the OS (windows 10), what do i do next? What do i download and configure after that? Would that be drivers? BIOS?? I've seen "burn-in" programs and benchmark programs, are these necessary to run? I can build a PC and install an OS, but as far as what to do afterwards, i'm really clueless, please help?

Get a 380 if you haven't bought the 960 already - recent news shows the 380 will benefit from DX12 by about 30% on average

1. Drivers for Z97 are all baked into Windows 10 AFAIK... So maybe just need to grab graphics drivers from Nvidias Website.

Checkout some overclocking guides for stuff like stress testing and burnins...

PPS: Get a proper PSU..

Get the drivers from your MOBO's website. Download video card drivers. Make sure everything is running properly. I'd do some stress tests.

Download Steam.

Also move from a Corsair CX PSU to a better brand?

Sig under construction.

I'd recommend getting a 280x instead.

Putting it on par with the 960. Get whichever you prefer, you'll get nearly identical DX12 performance out of either card anyway.

380 is 10% faster as is - DX12 will make it 40% faster theoretically

Forgot the mandatory CX video - thanks for reminding me :D

Corsair RM650?

RM are overpriced and have bad secondary capacitors - SeaSonic M12II Evo 620W is worlds better.

The Corsair HX/HXi/AX and AXi are also top notch.

Just avoid dat CX Series

If you want RM for quietness RMi is much better.

The top Corsair models do have a price premium but IMO the support is worth it. @Greybeard is awesome.

personally I have about 50 CX PSUs running without problems in the wild. - A couple of them have GTX 780s in the system; but I wouldn't recommend them out of choice.
