Or what they wore that morning... im sure there is a facebook like image policy hiden in there any where they have some kind of rights to all pics and documents stored on win 10 machine and can be used when how and when they want. Someone posted this video on my Facebook and he said he tested himself. I asked him to test it for me where he'd open the app directly without opening a picture and he said he still got the traffic. In the video, he closes the app every time he opens an image, i.e. he re-opens the Photos app every time. I also told him to try switching images while in the app's photo browser and he said there was no traffic (through he said he'd test it more later so maybe he will find something else). So...so far we only have proof there's something network related that happens when you open the new Photos app and not every time you view an image, at least, according to my friend's findings.

And he said on the video, which clearly many of you didn't watch, that he may be wrong on his whole thing, and yes he is. And easy way to know, is if the data being transfered matches the image file size. If not, then Microsoft is not seeing the image.

So, would there be a way then to find out 'where' the traffic is led? Because if we find out where, we can just block activity to that IP/hostname.

So apparently the maker of this video himself has declared this to be bullshit and that it's just simply reporting how often you use Microsoft Photo Viewer, rather than sending the picture to Microsoft.

I thought at first this might be happening every time you launch a program, which is perhaps marginally better, so I launched some other programs too and didn't observe any traffic. It was only after making this video that I came up with another theory: It does make the suspicious encrypted connection upon launching calculator. Why does MS care how often I run calculator? No idea, but I think it might be something to do with both the image preview and calculator being new 'metro' interface, store apps. It might be that MS simply wishes to be immediately informed every time you run any application. That's not much of an improvement on my earlier 'spy on your images' theory.

Don't know when this was added, but it doesn't seem that malicious to me. Who knows what usage data is being collected, but it's probably things like what application was used, how long it was used and how it was interacted with, and how it was closed. Still seems a bit shitty, but they ain't looking at your dick pics or whatever (and they're probably using this data to improve the application rather than to spy on you, but people are probably gonna ignore me on that and call me a MS shill or whatever because I dared (lel) to go against the narrative and continue pretending that Windows 10 is literally spyware or something even though this shit has been in Windows for eons.)

About your link- this is just another shitty article, I hope that "writing under dictation" was well payed... When I see "Basic information is data that is vital to the operation of Windows." and according article this is true and there's no problem I want to puke... Because I'm stupid will you explain me something- if that "basic info" are so VITAL (if I'm right meaning is that WITHOUT that information Windows WON'T work properly) to Windows operation why the fuck I CAN stop telemetry from settings if I use Win 10 Enterprise? In fact Enterprise is most important version, you can't fuck up business client- if they CAN set telemetry to 0 (turn it off) this mean that this function is NOT VITAL, right? Obviously for proper work of OS telemetry is not so important- why the hell MS lying to us? Personally I can see need of collecting that "basic information" (it's very basic and really is for OS improving), but problem is that "Vital"- when someone lies for small things I just CAN'T believe him for nothing...
