Gigabyte GTX 950 Early Unboxing

HKZeroFive

A Youtube channel called ‘Hard Drives and More’ has an interesting video of yet unreleased graphics card.

While I have absolutely no idea what is said in this video, I do know what GTX950 stands for. The GTX 950 is yet unreleased GM206 graphics card that will launch this week.

The card shown in the video is Gigabyte’s single-fan edition of GTX 950 (they also have WindForce 2X model coming). This particular model is just begging to be installed in HTPCs. It is not the best gaming hardware around, but considering it only requires 90W makes it a very interesting choice for casual gamers.

Direct competition comes from Radeon R7 370, which struggles in most benchmarks (especially synthetic) against GTX 950. The new card that will compete against GTX 950 is called R9 370X and it’s quietly being released by AMD partners as we speak.

I'm on mobile, so forgive me for not putting in the videos (unless a mod can edit it for me):

If I assume the card used for the heat test was a stock, I guess 60 degrees is pretty good. I'm not getting a GTX 950, but it looks like budget builders have something to look forward to.

I don't get it, why don't these guys do those early videos in English so they can get even more views..

But I'll be excited to see the real release of the card

Benchmarks! Benchmarks! Benchmarks! Benchmarks! Give me some performance numbers so I can decide if I want to waste money. I've only got literally no money to spend, so I need to make sure I'm wasting it wisely.

It is spanish and the comments actually links to auction site links of the card already available, meaning that a naughty Mexican distributor probably said "NDA? Release date? Fuck all that shit" and released it out now.

The price is 3599 MXN which is 218 USD however most prices include a 30% import tax (though that might disappear soon) so the USD might end up between USD 150 to 170 I believe.

So you can't buy it either way?

I wouldn't go that far. Surprisingly, you don't actually need money to buy things. It's less that I can't and more that I shouldn't.  :D

GTX 950, cooled by a stock intel cpu block, a fancy fan and a cheap-ass "designer" piece of plastic. Good!

I expected a nicer cooler but oh well.

This cards can almost run with no cooler. No joke there are passively cooled 750 cards out there.

Cards are getting more and more efficient i know.

But it's just, well. The card is not high-end, no denying that. But this is just badly done. They can cheap out on the cooler, but i think they went a bit too far with this.

Most of this cards will look terrible I agree, but I rather have an ugly card inside a closed case I am never gonna see than a fancy looking, performance impaired car since if you have the money to build a nice looking rig then you have the money to buy a better card anyway, see what I mean?

750 Ti will be a little slower than the 950, and doesn't fully support DX12, but will most likely be cheaper.

Not always. Some guy has the fund for a rig with 4 Titan Xs, but took the picture of his rig with the crappiest blurriest noisiest phone camera.

And the 750ti can be quieter (passive cooling), use less power, and potentially be cooler, and it's Maxwell V1
