Lol not going to happen, are they going to become patent trolls like Boeing?

im pretty sure boeing are not patent trolls because a patent troll just buys patents and doesnt make anything but im pretty sure there are such things as boeing airplanes

Rockets on a commercial aircraft are going to be way too expensive, and way too unreliable for this to be feasible.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

Why is the engine under the plane's belly?

Considering it has an operating altitude of 35 km ... I'm guessing it provides lift and stablelize the plane ?

It wasn't necessarily cost that caused its discontinuation...

Well I heard it was from the coast for the fuel as they were highly inefficient

Considering it has an operating altitude of 35 km ... I'm guessing it provides lift and stablelize the plane ?

It's for taking off and then retracts into the plane. It's travels by ram jets.

I think it can be done but it won't be. People will (wrongly) make all sorts of claims of fuel usage (while fast planes can fly higher where there's less drag so they're actually very efficient) and noise (which is true but if it climbs to such a high altitude it won't be such a big issue). It'll still be challenging though to design an aircraft that big that can stand up against the heat buildup of hypersonic flight (The aircraft's skin will likely be cooled by the liquid hydrogen fuel) and a rocket engine safe enough for commercial flight, but you naysayers are all wrong. It's certainly possible. Just not easy.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

This won't be done, but it's just a concept and it can still improve

They will need to do a lot though, some noise reduction would be needed but that would sacrifice some speed during take-off, but high altitudes aren't a problem

And like mentioned above costs will be staggering for the materials that might be used especially considering the heat, but then again we don't know what type of materials we might have in the future

 

Technology will always have it's flaws and this has many, but these flaws can definitely be fixed

There's a reason why it uses ramjets for supersonic/hypersonic flight. Ramjets are the most fuel-efficient jet engines for speeds Mach 2.5 and above. At lower speeds the turbojet is more efficient, like taxiing and takeoff/landing. I still don't know why that rocket was there though.

 

A good example of a ramjet is the SR-71. It uses a turbojet as a main engine, but with afterburners. However, at peak speed of Mach 3 (-ish), it simply shuts down the main engines and have the afterburners act as the ignition point for the engine, making it a pseudo (but conceptually similar) ramjet.

 

So aside from the rocket fuel, I think this is a plausible design. Though in my mind they could've gone with a turbofan for quieter operation on the runway, but it would've ruined the aerodynamic shape.

 

Now I wish I had this kind of jet though: Pulse-detonation engines with scramjet afterburners

If they are going off said picture, they are going to have a bad time. That thing is about as air dynamic as a brick. I don't know much about aerospace engineering but that design won't work.

Or they're preventing someone from making it. We probably won't have a good enough fusion tech until ~2050, probably later, and this isn't considering the risks of having fusion and fission reaction inside of a plane engine, nor the issues related to the presence of a layer of uranium inside it
