Build Log: 1969 Corvette Stingray (C3)

Derranged

WELCOME!

To my build log for my *new* 1969 Corvette Stingray. Over time I will be adding pictures and plans of what we will be doing to the car, and of course at some points it may take a while to get back with updates... because cars like this aren't cheap! Anyway, here are some pictures (Warning: Quite Large (~6MB's Each)

Please let me know of your opinions and ideas to what you would like to see happen to this project, and it may be considered.

Engine: 350 LT1

Transmission: 4-Speed Manual

Diff Gears: 4.11 Gears

UPDATES

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
29/08/2015
Just a few things upgraded, and as you can see some new mirrors have been fitted which makes it look great! And amazingly now I can actually see things behind me :P
Spoiler
Left - OLD / Right - NEW (Hi-Beam)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

24/10/2015

So we've been busy over the past couple of months, and the car runs quite a bit better!

Spoiler

SO, the car was getting filled with a TONNE of heat from the engine bay, and we had enough of that!

WCFt2vH.jpg

SO, we decided to put some new underlay with heat-resisting aluminium on the underside, and some nice spongy material on top. Some nice new carpet on top, and this is the end result! Oh and I should mention the old console is gone! Crappy plastic replaced by wood insulated with both underlay and carpet. (Sorry, haven't gotten around to vacuuming it again).

WNNDoxD.jpg

Also, the exhaust system was extremely annoying (booming), a basic solution until we make some side pipes!

How much was it?

Within my budget, I would prefer not to say.

Why did you go for this generation and not the C2?

I like the C3, plus the price (EDIT: There's only 10 C2's for sale in decent condition, and all are over $50,000).

Amazing car, but I still like the dual window sting ray!

They are also gorgeous, but this model was certainly my favourite.

Thanks man, and have fun with your Porsche. Make sure to have a look at the cost of replacement parts before buying the car. I haven't looked into them but if parts aren't manufactured anymore, you're going to have a fun time finding parts for a decent price.

As much as I would love to, I doubt it would be street legal :P

EDIT: As for price, let's just say somewhere between 20 to 30k

No tag   :(

Looks MUCH better in the light  :D

Didn't know you wanted to be tagged, sorry mate :P

Damn thats pretty pricey. Here in Aus you can pick them up for about 7-8k with about 140,000kms on the motor, panels pretty decent also...

Eh, never been much a fan of the older vets. Little too common for me, I'll stick to my '67 impala.

Eitherway, can't wait to see what you can get done to it, seems like one heck of a build in the works.

I want to pick up a 67 Impala for my first car and make her as similar as possible to the one on Supernatural

xD You won't believe it, but That's exactly what I've been working on. I picked up the same model, and year for that reason. Got a new leather interior, but instead of black I went for a nicer imo tan. Then during a 2012 convention in Vancouver I got the two guys to each sign one of the sun visors. Might take a picture of it at some point, but the signatures are kinda faded as to be expected on a sun visor xD

Nah, I live in central QLD. This colour is common due to how amazingly it suits the vehicle.

Ah okay :P I just don't see a lot of Stingrays at all here. Wish I did they're gorgeous cars. Plenty of late 60's early 70's Mustangs here though lol.
