Please, you guys ain't got nutin' on either my crappy ten year old laptop (rockin specs that I don't even know) and my 10 year old PC. (With a CPU with no information on the internet about....)

Oh and also the fact that my main 'computer' at the moment is my iPad.... Yeah.... When will I be able to build my new pc...

Which CPU is it? I'm curious ;)

I honestly don't know what RAM does, like I know it does background stuff but not fully.

-I've purchased multiple peripherals and PC components from brick and mortar stores like Best Buy and Micro Center, knowing they were cheaper on Newegg, because, like most of my generation, I am impatient and want things now.

 

-I couldn't give two sh*ts about 3D Printing, Drones, Mining, and all the other tech crazes.

 

-I once stole like 10 sticks of 512MB DDR ram from unused computers at my dads workplace because I thought I could use them. They found out and made me put them back.

 

-X99 is turning out to be more of a hassle than my old X58 system and it's so hard for me to admit it. While I love the hardware I have now, I lament at the money I could've saved by going to Z97.

.-. my first year in college when I went for computer information systems and me and a class mate where putting together a computer and we bent the cpu prongs by accident and the teacher almost killed us........ We didn't mean it we where gentle and everything....But what you expect from old hardware and I'm glad it was xD

Pulled one of my laptops from an eco dump depot. 

Don't worry. I think we all have scavenged something. 

 

Saying that, I scavenged:

a Pentium 4 PC without hard drives

an Iiyama 17" monitor

some random Acer OEM mouse and keyboard

a GeForce2 GTS along with some DDR/DDR2 RAM

Two Philips speakers from around 2001

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

So, since I did not find a good Thread about this, I thought lets make one:D

Here's mine...A few years back my dad and I built a pc we did everything correctly checked every connection 2-3 times but there was still no boot :/

We send all the parts back except for the case and the PSU because ít couldnt be because of the case and the PSU was an old one that we had lying around...

All the parts came AGAIN, we assembled everything, but again there was still no boot ;D

In the end we tried 4 weeks to get it up and running, in the end we noticed that we had always plugged the power cable into a dead outlet. That was the biggest facepalm I ever had. :D :D

And now its up to you ;)

And yes i now there is the kind of similar "Tech Confessions" Thread but I decided to make an official one only for this:D

I once switched a psu to 115V with a tiny red switch on the backside. I thought it was for the fan speed of the PSU.
Small detail, In belgium the powergrid is 220V so it went bang and all smokey and stuff.

My parents still think it exploded on itself.

Building my first computer, firstly forgot i needed a graphics card. Also didn't realize I'd need a new PSU. Finally once it was all built it wouldn't turn on. My dad and I stared at it blankly for hours, took it to a pc repair shop and they also had no idea. Turns out I'd put the power switch connector one pin too far over. DOH!

I have a case with literally no wire management options so that kinda creates to a need to be creative. Recently, routed all my pmw cables to a single spot, they came from various places in the case so they were all a bit different in length. Stripped a splitter, cut it in different lengths. Resleeved it. Used two splitters to go down from 4 cables to one. Mounted those all to the side of my case in elaborate loops. Finally got everything looking neat and tidy. Routed a single extension from my splitter monstrosity to a fan slot. Booted it up. Nothing. 

 

Fumbled with the software/bios end for ages. Decided that maybe it was overkill for a single fan header. Tore it all apart, cut the sleeves. Have a horrible mangled spaghetti fan wire mess going all over my case. Come to the last cable and notice one splitter wasn't hooked up. So that's why It didn't work.

I did the same. But to a friend's PC.... It was crap PSU anyway, so I did a favor for him  B)
