stepdad = da bes

Lays

Was talking to my stepdad earlier about my external custom loop and how I may need his help on Saturday getting it all set up.

I explained some stuff to him, showed him what I wanted to do with the old 480mm radiator I have laying around that had a tiny leak awhile back.  He asked "isn't it risky to have that around if it might leak?"

I said yeah, but it will be outside of the case so no risk of leaking, and once I sell a few things I'll be getting a different radiator.   He asked what one I was looking at getting, so I showed him the Phobya 1080mm radiator I was planning on getting because it's basically the same price as a 480mm radiator.

He said OK well can I buy it for you? I was like oh... are you sure? He then went on about how I shouldn't have to half-ass it the first time, and that I could consider it an early Christmas present!

Moral of the story, stepdad = bae.

Like Saturday or so I'll have a full external loop for my 980, and I'll be posting some benchmarks at 1700+ mhz on the core :]

It doesn't really have anything to do with getting hot, the colder you can keep a GPU the more you can push it.

My card does 1595 @ 1.212v on water, but takes 1.3v to do 1580 on air, and only stays stable if it's below 53c.

Keeping it at 35c under load should easily allow me to push it well over 1600 at 1.212v, and most likely 1700-1800 at 1.3-1.4 volts.

I should also be able to get my memory close to 9000 mhz with some extra memory voltage, it does 8712mhz right now in benchmarks.

Can't wait to put my 970 on water, waiting for prime day... it already gets 1600 @1.26v on the shitty reference cooler

Kinda like how my dad was like
"F*** it, 1,400 dollars isn't that much" and payed for my PC, I didn't even question it, he was like "this is the only thing your getting for christmas" didn't even care, my steam library is big enough xD he also said "your keeping EVERYTHING under 500 dollars for christmas now on" so I'm just going to give him 200 extra dollars so he can buy me a 980Ti Hall of Fame XP

Still you got an amazing stepdad for just doing that for you
