Choosing new graphics card Pt.2

Ok, so long story short PC died need new GPU had a R9 295x2 and I can't decide between a R9 Fury X and a Galax GTX 980TI HOF. Please if you make a recommendation back it up with reasons I would choose that over the other option, aka no one sentence answers please

GTX 980Ti. More Vram, Better Drivers and beats the Fury X in most benchmarks.

 

You also won't be crippled by GameWorks. And a backplate is always nice

and the 980TI is also a LOT quieter than the Fury X aparently

more vram, but Fury X has HBM, I can just turn gameworks off, which I would have to anyway since I'm playing in 4k and 980 TI plus gameworks in 4k still like 30 fps, arguably better drivers, and all the benchmarks I have seen don't overclock the Fury X which I plan to do. Also the Fury X has a backplate

I know, I just had one and it just died, also I know it's a downgrade, but I want one gpu and I want Directx 12.1 features, and i have a small room and that thing cooks me since I live in south Louisiana

Watch Jayztwocents. The GTX980Ti at stock beats a Fury X at stock, and a GTX980Ti OCed beats a Fury X OCed. The only condition a Fury X beats a GTX980Ti is if the Fury X is OCed and the 980Ti is not. The OC potential on the Fury X is limited to none and OCing the vram is not possible. HBM might be good, but seriously if the 390x has 8GB why does the Fury have 4? at 4K 6GB GDDR5 beats 4GB HBM. And his Fury X sounded like a wind turbine, whilst Linus's Fury X was DOA. Not a good start for the Fury.

Well I asume you want the coolest card with best cooler then it is Fury X!

 

If you want more performance and a bit more silent then a 980Ti!

 

Also 1+ points to Fury X for being cutest.

Pump noise yet but the coil-whine could be depending on the models. I never seen MSI or Sapphire coil whine.

if your case is small + you have temp problems go for fury x

I think I might go for Fury X, but I'm still going to wait for the Galax HOF 980 TI to come out and see a side by side, if someone makes one

tell that to Nvidias current drivers.

 

Fury X will probably perform better once AMD actually makes proper drivers for it. May take a while though.

 

295x2 absolutely DESTROYS the 980Ti and Fury X with the exception of games with ZERO CF profiles (you can force it though, it works, but flickering or stuttering may appear).

 

Still, i have the 295x2, the only thing i cannot max out easily in games such as Witcher 3, which is a gameworks title, is Hairworks and AA. Because hairworks is based upon Tesselation. So i gotta turn it down from x64 to x16. And honestly, at 3440x1440p i cannot tell the difference of x64 vs x16. And AA is kinda pointless when you are running higher resolutions. Other then a massive FPS dump.

I just watched JayzTwoCents review on an overclocked Fury X vs overclocked 980 Ti. Overclocked 980 Ti won. I would go with the Gigabyte 980 Ti G1 Gaming. Custome PCB and lower temps than a reference 980 Ti.
