What is your favourite text editor?

So I just want to know what editors people use, like, or dislike.

 

I have used Gedit for the past few years in my linux lab at school, but at home on my windows machine it gives an annoying runtime error when closing the application.

So I'm kinda looking for something better to switch to.

I mostly program in C++, but also do some python, if that matters.

Notepad ++, Sublime Text, Brackets, and Atom.

I like to use Gedit 90% of the time. For Windows I use Notepad++ but I hear Atom is really good.

i checked the downloads page and it says

 

Sublime Text 2 may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use.

but also "Removed expiry date" in the new features for 2.2?

 

If I have to pay to use it I might just go with atom instead...

Yeah, when I bought it, it was $59... It says $70 now for some reason. I love Sublime, but you can't beat the free stuff. Go for Atom.

just downloaded it for free, looks pretty sweet and certainly has a lot of features

Sublime for plain text editor, Visual Studio if you're including full IDEs.

Notepad++ for Windows, gedit for Linux/Unix when available if not I go hardcore and use Vi.

I LOVE Sublime. GitHub should have bought Sublime and not ripped it off into Atom.

Vim. Productivity is real with the unite, easymotion, and surround plugins. Too bad it uses a cheeseball interpreted scripting language for extension instead of Lisp or Python.

Brackets for everything web developement, Visual Studio 2013(been messing around with 2015 rc too, though) for c# and eclipse for Java.
