What would be the next (more advanced) program to use after Movie Maker?

So I'm new to video editing and I just made some videos in Movie Maker, so I want to step up a bit...

 

What would be the next, more advanced program, for video editing after Movie Maker? (It still has to be simple to use!)

 

The thing I hate about movie maker is that you can add only 1 soundtrack by the video, it doesn't have PIP support and other effects...

 

Any recommendations?

Adobe premier pro... It's not as hard to use as you would think.

an in between might be sony vegas. Don't think it was as hard to use initially as premier or something like that (ui isn't too different from vegas... just a lot more settings)

Lightworks, get it before you spend money on vegas or Adobe Premiere, it's free

I would invest in adobe premiere, once you learned it you know the best one

Not true, from the pics I've seen of Vegas, it has better UI than Lightworks ----> easyer to work with.

Look guys, OP is new to video editing, he won't need to do high-end stuff. Just cut some video's and add some colour correction.

 

Also let's not forget by saying Sony Vegas we encourage piracy, because let's be honest, nobody pays for +500$ software.

 

Every Adobe CC program has a 30 day free trial. There is a workaround to get unlimited trials by removing the registry's or just plain reinstalling Windows every month or using Linux/Yosemite.

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

Hmm, never heard of it but doesn't hurt for trying.

I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro right now, it works nicely, paired with Adobe After Effect to create visual effect (to make it even better).

sony vegas

very easy to learn and quite similar to movie maker except with a ton more features

 

premier pro is a bit more complex than vegas, so i would recommend that after using vegas if you really need it

 

lightworks is free but has a steep learning curve, i like vegas way better

Yep Adobe is the best but its not exactly easy looking to use unless you have prior experience with adobe products (like Photoshop) then its easier to learn but still takes some getting used to. Considering he's moving from Windows Movie maker it probably looks pretty crazy.
