Why is GTA V more expensive in Australia.

matto97

First off its not just GTA V its other games as well but let me get down to numbers.

In America

$59.99 USD = $77.59 AUD

In Australia

$94.98 USD = $122.84 AUD

Why is this, why are we being ripped off. Its not fair for the people that don't have a lot of money that we are charged so much more, we shouldn't have to buy our games threw a friend in America just to get a fair deal.

I understand there being an exchange rate but that doesn't mean you can charge us $35 USD more.

And its not just GTA V its nearly any newer game that's been released in the past 6 months give or take. And as much as i want some of these games i feel like not buying them and support them and how they rip us off and take us for every thing we have without any reason.

Supply and demand, your own inner tax for imports, shipping it off to an isolated not that populated continent, your higher cost of living etc.

The game is like 80 or 90 dollars in Canada.

We live right above them.

That's. Not. Fair.

Also tax and yes it is.

Exactly like you can just take one step and pay half as much. its beyond ridiculous.

Also tax and yes it is.

I under stand there needs to be tax's on things but to tax it to the amount where it costs twice as much is just bs.

No he can't take one step and pay half as much if he buys from the us and doesn't pay taxes it's like scamming your country.

I only buy my games threw my friend in the US now as its like a 50% sale all the time xD

I would also like the point out this is a big reason why people pirate games as well.

Two options:

Lose your NHS and get a corruption problem in the government and pay less for non-life essentials

or

Keep your NHS and have a less corrupted government or pay more for non-life essentials.

Me personally living in the US I'd rather pay more to have NHS and a less corrupted government. It's not that companies are trying to discriminate but sometimes transport fees can be a factor and so can making content available in a region. It might sound weird coming from someone who lives in the US but as long as Harper is no longer the PM of Canada after this year I honestly would be perfectly fine if I moved to Québec (Français est mon deuxième langue) though I might do that anyways after I graduate High School. Oh yeah not to mention University/College is cheaper.

Strangely it's cheaper here in India, listed @ 40 USD, If I remember correctly I am looking that price from launch only.

'Grand Theft Auto V & Great White Shark Cash Card' bundle is sold for 38.99 $ and GTA V alone is for 39.99  :D

Put GTA V for sale alone steam

I saw it for sale at start of day 1 sale, but I guess it was pricing error, as later I couldn't find it

Finally got PS4 Pro

It would seem that it costs about the same (maybe even less?)  CA$69.99 is about US$56.81.

xD US Best Buy sells the same version of GTA V for US$59.99.
