1. You could for an example include this video from AMD in your post.

2. I am not impressed by AMD here.

EDIT: I am impressed by the TDP, but they are comparing to an Intel CPU with a 15W TDP here, the AMD one has a 35W TDP. FFS AMD!

So I was right: nothing but damn fucking APUs

Looks like even the FX is gonna be APUs. Maybe the Zen will have new name lineup. Also I don't see why they are having so many APU lines. It's stupid

A bit of clarification the FX-8800P is 15w. It can exceed it's rated TDP the same as Intel chips do. The i5-5200U per example will reach 48w outside of it's 15w rating.

It's just too bad neither Excavator nor Carrizo for that matter made it to the desktop.

Source, on both claims please. I don't think the intel chip will more than double it's TDP in gaming, note gaming, not with a synthetic stress test that will raise voltages.

Prove me wrong, properly, restore some of my faith in AMD's CPU's.

it's because they're a lot more successful than FXs... besides intel has high end apus right now. They are good for the price, and honestly I don't see why you'd complain about that.

I found out that apparently it can be configured by the manufacturer to draw more or less power (for more performance) depending on the cooling solution of the laptop. So there IS a 15 W version (as well as theoretically a 12W one), but I'm not sure what is being tested in that video - likely the 35W one. Still, bare in mind TDP is not equivalent to power consumption. I found no evidence of the i5 going over 15W, but then again I haven't been looking for long.

You pay a lot of money, you get a very strong CPU and iGPU for less than a CPU and graphics card of equal strength. So yes, they are extremely good for the price.

Its compared to 5000 series iGPU from Intel which is okay but Intel already has 6000 (iris pro) which is a significant improvement over previous series.

RIP AMD I guess...

I take TDP with a grain of salt. My 84W TDP i5 4440 for example consumes less than 30W of power, while my 125W TDP Xeon X5450 consumes over 110W, when its nearing 4.4GHz.

They've got FX, A10 and A8. Just name them A12 or something because masses are gonna get confused.

A:I'm gonna take this FX processor and this card.

B: You don't want that FX, that's an APU, you want this FX processor that's not an APU.

A: What?

Bound to happen million times. A lot of people here still think that 390X is gonna be Fiji or vice versa after we had infinite topics for quite some time now. Imagine this confusion. Was talking about naming scheme, not that they need to have 1 APU line.

I'm on my phone now and this was exhausting, thus I hate you a lot atm. :P

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

that's HD 5500 but compare it to HD 6200 IRIS PRO!

Iris Pro doesn't coexist among the mobile market at this power envelope. The highest tier you will see at this point is HD 6000.

Microprocessors exceeding their thermal design limit has been known of for a very long time. I'm pretty sure you've heard of Turbo Boost and other technologies that trigger this. Carrizo features the same STAPM technology that AMD introduced with Mullins. If you're looking for an AMD advocate than I would disappoint.
