Will an i3-4160 bottleneck a GTX 960?

I'm looking for a new PC with GTX 960, and i'm asking if an i3-4160 bottleneck a GTX 960, or should i buy a I5-4460...but its bit expensive so do i really need it for 1080p gaming?

I would say no. The i3-4160 is quite capable. You should be fine.

Well OP is getting an i3-4160, which is a 2 generations newer and 500 MHz faster. Also the GTX 960 is significantly less powerful than the GTX 980.

i3 2100 + 980 =/= i3 4160 + 960

There will be no botleneck

Bottlenecks depend on the games you are looking at running. Most modern games make use of multi-core systems in one way or another.

I'd personally suggest upgrading to an i5 quad core.

The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

depends on the game. More multi threaded games that are built to leverage the extra power of the i5's and i7's will sputter on a dual core.

However in many situations it should be fine (expect some stutter/ lower gpu usage in some situations)

No bottleneck in any game.

You shouldn't run into issues except maybe multiplayer battlefield.

i3 handles multiplayer battlefield like a champ

Much better than any fx processor actually.

With most of today's high end games they will max the GPU before they max that CPU.

Bottleneck is such an overused catch all for a more complex relationship.  Most people would be better served not worrying so much about it.  It isn't like herpes.

With AMD you can afford a GTX 980 and just smoke everything. Actually Jayztwocents did a vid with an i7 and a gtx980. He cut cores till he was at i3 (two cores) and only then did the mighty 980 suffer some. i3 should be fine for a 960. Heck I could buy an 8570 and an r9 290 mega gpu for what some i5's are going for.

You can buy a 290 and an FX 8370 for less than $230 (4690k, the most expensive i5)?! Please, do share a link. That's an amazing deal!

Because last time I checked, an FX 8370 went for $190 and a 290 for $230.

i5 199 250 with mb,  8370e with MB 140, 230 is what I am seeing for a r9290 also. Ok I may have exagerated a bit(like Spock) however having an extra 110 bucks for a gpu makes AMD the best choice for gaming.
