Totally legit, the first batch or so of Ones' had a silvery-white substance leaking from them near where the processor sits, and it was of the same consistency of very hot thermal compound. People were thinking it was the heatsink, which would take much more heat, and others speculated it was a failed capacitor. Not sure if it was ever confirmed to be thermal compound though.

Microsoft’s Xbox One launched on Nov. 22 and like any new console it has experienced a number of glitches and bugs. Two users recently reported that they found a white, sticky liquid leaking from the device, leaving a milky-white residue on the system’s case. The oily substance appeared on the vent of the Xbox One’s heatsink fan.

I like the idea. I can see the pixels on my monitor. 4K at <24" would make it basically impossible to detect the pixels. I've seen some 4K monitors at my local computer shop, very sexy.

 

You can play games on a cathode-ray-tube TV from the 90s, doesn't mean that it's a good plan.

 

The issue with 4k at the moment is, quite simply, that it's new. Some apps don't handle scaling well, it's hard to push that many pixels, etc..

 

Right now I think 1080p @144hz is the sweet spot. 4k will be the next step though.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.
