Corsair adds 980 Ti to PSU Finder

I've said it before but I'm really curious to see where they'll have this card fall in the performance field. They need it to be competitive against whatever AMD releases so the closer to the Titan X the better. But the closer it gets to Titan X, the further it gets from the 980. So we might end up with a funky situation where the 980 is only ~20% faster than a 970 for $200 more but the 980ti is ~50% faster than a 980 for $200 more.

 

Unless they drop the price of the 980... which I wouldn't mind.

As expected.

A cut down Titan X was expected, the real debate has been what Nvidia was going to call it since traditional Ti is only given to variants of the same chip. This only proves that that doesnt matter and Nvidia can name their GPU's whatever they damn well please.

Well the lowest PSU it recommends (With a ~140w CPU and 1 HDD) is 650w.

This could mean draw anything below 500w.

In all seriousness, the 980 ti should consume about 250 watts under max load just like the TitanX. You need to remember that corsair probably makes more money when selling higher capacity power supply which is why, their recommendation thing is probably overestimated

I'm honestly surprised Nvidia may be alegedly releasing a 980ti. I didn't think we would see GM100 GM200 on a non Titan card until the 1000 series, or whatever Nvidia decides to call the next GeForce series.

Well lately, Nvidia has released the next generation of geforce cards in may/june. I was expecting to see the 1000 series then. The 770 and 780 were released May 2013, The 670 and 680 were released May 2012. Now the 900 series were a little late, coming in at September 2014. The last few years have seen a new generation at May-ish, so I really thought the alleged 980ti would be the 1080, or whatever its gonna be called. If memory serves me right, the original Titan came out when the 680 was Nvidia's top single gpu geforce card. And we didn't see GK200 until the 780, the next generation. So tradition with Titans and their respective GPU's (albeit a short tradition) is that the core in the titan was a bit of a sneak peak at the next generation flagship geforce card.
