That's pretty much my opinion, I'm from Denmark and 12 years old (although my friends are 14-15).

i think if you use a words like swears too often you can forget how to properly form a sentence otherwise and forget notes of words (bad vocabulary)

If you know that by saying a certain thing offends then why say it?  Whether people can choose to take offense or not is moot, if you choose to say something offensive  then you clearly have a lack of respect.

That goes for everything from racial slurs and sexist language right down to swearing. 

 

I don't mind people swearing around me, but I will not use any language that offends another person regardless of how common that language might be.

 

 

I also think swearing for the sake of swearing is a sign of low social intelligence.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I find swearing fine. I just hate it when my friends swear around small children and people of respect like teachers and parents. 

Sometimes I swear without thinking and I'm trying to work on that. Most people don't mind a minor slip of the tongue though. :P

To me, it shouldn't matter if someone says f*ck or sh*t. What matters is what they mean by it. Often times, its just an intensifier, like "sooooooo", and I fail to see how that's bad. If it offends you, maybe you need to take a look at why it does so. Rockers use the "rawkfist" at concerts all the time. Some cultures take offense to this. Thumbs up is offensive to some cultures. Why isn't it offensive in ours (Western-style)? I think its so petty to say that some words are bad and yet use replacements. You're saying the exact same thing, just with a different vibe (less emotion). I would be much more offended by someone who wishes ill on someone in the most polite way possible than by someone who "swears" every other word (the person who does the latter though shows signs of low intelligence, because they feel the need to "swear" to be heard. kinda like people who shout to feel more intelligent). If someone will take offense to such words, I find them (at least in every case so far) to be hypocritical. I have an incredibly hard time respecting hypocrites.

I think, to anyone who truly thinks that swear were are baaaadddd in some way, I suggest you do the following;

 

  1. Find Mountain
  2. Scale Mountain (If unable to scale, clamber)
  3. When at summit, take a deep breath
  4. Let the swear words loose. (CUNT FUCK SHIT WANK NIGGER WHORE DICK etc.)
  5. Realise the lack of impact they have on you.

Those are just swear words but N****r is a little more serious so please keep it in check, the mods may have to rape you because of it :P

Fucking oath cunt! It's pretty normal informal language in Australia. Swear words just add emphasis in a sentence. Among mates (cunts) I get pretty bad, but so does everyone. I do have a formal tone however, and switch between them when neccessary.

When I'm with my friends I find myself cursing just by throwing a word in for emphasis on what I'm saying. Now when I'm with respectable people, I almost never curse unless I almost break something for example. And at home I never curse unless I'm talking with my dad about something that really pissed me off. For me it's just a part of my speech, I don't curse too often as I've noticed my friends do a LOT, I find it overwhelming when they jsut can't control themselves.
