Experiences with non-techies

I was at school, doing some research. The firewall can be really stupid, and sometimes malfunctions and blocks everything. When I go to google.com and this happens: IMG_20170204_104128.jpg

Why? I have no idea. I asked the tech department about it, and they were clueless. This apparently happened schoolwide, so this hindered everything. They knew it happened because it happened before. Luckily I could use my phone and I used a VPN on my phone so this wouldn't affect me but this is a bit ridiculous.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(

if its your own computer, get a VPN, if its a shared computer get in to the Admin acc throgh one of the many back doors in Windows and use a VPN from there. if the firewall is preventing school work, out techyness it

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

It is not my own computer, and they block VPN websites and even Surfeasy will not work (one exploit I found is that .msi files can go through, however) and the admins never login to pleb school computers so rip that.

you can log into the system account, the account thats active during the log in screen and then go through there. then you could torrent some VPN service

CMD: disabled.

But what's that, you want to use Windows PowerShell and be able to find anyone's files and view, steal, or otherwise modify them? Sure, just go to Windows Explorer and go to File --> PowerShell.

Absolutely horrifying.

The amount of times me and friends have found ways to access other people's files (even the teachers and admins) is unbelievable.

The computers at my school keep a local copy of every user's data who logs onto the machine, and it's REALLY easy to get in to. And the accounts are roaming network accounts!

This hasn't actually happened, but I can see some of my friends doing it:

Scenario: Person 1 drops and cracks smart-phone display.

Person 1: I cracked my phone, can you tell me how bad it is?

Me: Sure, just send a picture of it.

Person 1: OK.
(10 minutes later)

My phone: New text from Person 1

Me: Face-palm (multiple times)

They sent a screenshot. I can TOTALLY see the physical screen.

Like I said, this hasn't happened, but I sure as heck can see it happening.

Sometimes you are the non-techie!

#1 So I was finishing up a pc I'm building for a home server just now. Press power button. Nothing. Wat.

Turns out I plugged in the 4 pin CPU power connector in backwards. Lol. I was wondering why a capacitor thing was blocking the little clip xD

#2 The case I use is weird. The psu is inside the case and there's a power cable that runs from the back of the cable to the psu's power connector. So I close the lid of the case and screw half the screws in only to realize I left the psu's switch off. Lol.

I might get more outta this build lol.

Fractal design core 500? Forgot that as well last time I moved it after having powered it down and the 2nd happened to me as well !
