Do you or do you not have an SSD and why?

Bmjskater

Tell the world if you do or do not have an SSD and why?  (I personally do and they are amazing, fast, and reliable).

Pretty simple to break this down:

SSD Pros: fast, non-mechanical

SSD Cons: expensive, lower GB/$

I can't live without an SSD is all of my systems now. :)

I do not have it

why? I don't see the value yet

but it's great to have and I always suggest it to new builder, more durable for home user (from vibration/and physical contact) where often the case they always constantly "accidentally" kicking their blackbox under their feet.

again the point selling is faster loading, and I don't see the value yet, because even with mechanical I can load pretty much fast enough.

My notebook is SSD only. I love it! these Boottimes are amazing.

my Main Rig has both. But i would never again build a PC without SSD. Even if it's just a Word/Excel/PowerPoint workstation i would put in a 60-120gb

but they are pretty expensive :( I would love to have one of those new Intel 750 PCI-E, but they cost soooooooooo much

maybe he can't put 2 drives in.

my Lenovo Y580 just has one sport for an 2,5" drive.

i got myself a 256GB Samsung 830. and it's quite enough space.

i carry a external 2,5" USB 3.0 1TB HDD in my notebookbag if I need it.

I can't imagine not having one anymore. I only have a 128gb 840 pro, but it does the job for me until the prices drop in the future.

Currently, I really have no need for a SSD after upgrading my GPU it decreased my boot time from 30 seconds to only 15. But I want to see how fast I can get the boot time so I plan on picking up a SSD before they release windows 10 to boot windows 10 and keep windows 8.1 on my HDD.

I found a Crucial M550 128gb on sale for $55 a few months ago, that was my entrance to the SSD world. It's so fast that I don't notice it (if that makes sense?) And prices have plummeted so much in the last few months, I'm just done with mechanical storage now. When this fills up, I'll get more SSDs.

I've got 2 SSD and donated another to my dad. My first was a western digital 256GB that I got on a shell shocker from newegg, it is the one my father is now using.

Now I've got 2 crucial 240GB drives in my laptop and all my mass storage is on mechanical drives on the NAS.

For the age of my laptop SSDs made a huge difference and has breathed new life into it, and have gotten at least 2 additional years of life out of my system.

Everyone really should have/get a 240GB, or greater, SSD for their system(s). One can hardly over state the difference it makes for everything, yet it's difficult to convey how it makes everything better to those that don't use them. I don't care if its an e-machine, gaming rig or workstation. Mechanical drives are dead to me now, and are only used for cold storage.

I can't imagine living without the 250GB 840 EVO in my main rig and the 120GB EVO in my weekend rig. Everything is faster and more responsive, even though my weekend rig has SATA II and an E7400.
