This reminds me of installing the first far cry with the 5 disk set. We really to get disks with a bigger storage capacity for games.

So many disks, but the boxes sure do look cool.

Why would you buy a physical copy?

Steam is pretty great.

  1. Physical copies are the best method of owning something.
  2. Not everyone has god internet.
  3. Comes with cool stuff...that isn't digital.

Not everyone has majority of America's internet... if you don't like disc's just download it like you said? People in Australia still need disc's with our 1.5mbps.

you misunderstand. I'm tired of discs, not physical copies.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Why would you buy a physical copy?

Steam is pretty great.

Because I can get it for $20 less at retail than I can from Steam? It's $97 AUD on Steam with the current conversation rate from USD, i'll be paying $77 from a local retailer on release day, even less if another retailer in the centre is offering it for a lower price then i'll just get it price matched.

Also it would take me 48 hours or more to download the entire 62gb Steam install, and that would really eat into my monthly cap, which I need for Netflix >_>

or a sd card/usb drive, the cheapest one are sub 20$ and i'm sure much cheaper in bulk purchases, i wonder if they considered it and find out 7 double layer dvd's are still cheaper

also i would get a box too but download is still better for me even though i'm on 2 mbit, the pre load has been running since late Tuesday and this is where is at

I know that feeling bro.

And THAT is why I'll be buying the physical copy. And I also like to keep the box I think its special and won't it look nice if I'll have my games sorted out like books on shelves? Picking one out and inserting the cd is something that makes me remember the old day (although I'm only 15)

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

like i said, download is better for me because i can't buy a box here, they don't sell the game in this country, so i bought a code from amazon, otherwise i would have to import the box and that would take more

I calculated how long it'd take to download this...

3 Days 0 Hours 14 Minutes 6.85 Seconds

That's an optimistic guess too, considering this is the speed which I download at MAX, WITHOUT anyone using the internet.

Guess I'll wait 1 or 2 months so I can at least skip the patches and not have to download them too.

So many things I could write here... things like this.

Just finished my download. I doubt Steam's time estimations especially with my incredibly fluctuating internet, but it was about 1 day 12 hours when I started it.

Why the fuck don't they use blu rays and offer a place to download it if you don't have a BD drive? Fucks sake it's 2015

i have no need for a blu-ray drive i dont own 1 blu-ray at ALL. i watch things from netflix or my home server i ONLY have a DVD drive in my computer because of some LINUX stuff i work with. they do it so that if little Timmy get this game for his B-day and does not have a blu-ray drive he does not cry for 3 days. but yah 7 disks IS alot.
