hey guys, did Linus leave ncix? i haven't seen him in a video forever..

no he still has about 1.5yrs of contract left

but he has been in asia for the past 3 weeks so thats why he hasnt been in videos

Yes, he quit a few years ago to dedicate his time to LMG, though he does still do videos with em every now and then.

what's with the contract is it some sort of deal so that linus could get LMG as his own with the consequence being to help out NCIX with their own channel?

He's definitely not a product manager anymore because you may recall from a recent WAN show discussing how businesses like NCIX "figure out" how to make the small amount of money they do (over companies who are making all the money like nvidia, intel, and amd.) He then said something to the effect of, well I'm not in that position anymore so "it's not my problem!"

 

P.S. I know that phrase all too well because my previous co-workers always used to say it daily.

LMG used to be affiliated with NCIX, but they split off when Linus's old contract with them expired and he was able to hire more workers and make a living on his own just on LTT. He is still affiliated with them on his own, simply because they've been colleagues for years and he comes in to shoot videos for them quite a bit. I think he has a basic contract with them still.

He has cleared this up before.

I believe he worked out a deal with them to buy the rights to LinustechTips.  He started it as an employee for them.

I could be wrong and would love a staff member to confirm but It's something along those lines

He actually still technically works for them. Just not as a full time job.

It is a 2 year contract he renewed about half a year ago to continue recording NCIXcom videos about once or twice a week

He is not a full time product manager at NCIX like he used to be, but they still pay him to do videos regularly so he does literally work there.

actually I'm pretty sure he used LTT to do quick and dirty product showcases as part of his job.  I remember this being talked about on a video at some point.

TL;DR

I thought you said you watched NCIX videos? They said it (Linus' Vacation Leave) during one of their Netlinked Daily videos a couple of weeks ago. It's also been on the forums here and in the WAN show and atleast one other video.

The only reason he keeps coming back to film one every so often is the emotions attached to the channel.

yes he prerecorded A LOT of content before leaving

he said he was doing twice the normal amount of videos just to get  enough content out on LTT

 

actually I'm pretty sure he used LTT to do quick and dirty product showcases as part of his job.  I remember this being talked about on a video at some point.

yes he was both product manager and NCIXcom host

but when he left he was no longer product manager and only host a few times a week instead of every video

He left his original job as product manager at NCIX when they founded LMG.

But he still does contractual work for them once in a while.
