I get the whole banning porn, but why goriness and pandas? That just strikes me as excessive.

 

It is excessive. We're talking about a very, very conservative, authoritarian government here.

 

If they can find some obscure, roundabout way to link things to their own political survival, they will ban it. That means things as obvious as the Tiananman Square massacre being absent from Chinese web searches, but it may also mean that a cultural icon like the panda cannot be depicted in certain contexts they deem politically sensitive. Such as Pandaren characters in WoW being harmed.

I can see why China wants to ban those but there are far other things they could ban as well that I am sure are worse than these.

 

High School of the Dead was really good to watch, really deep story line. Terror in Resonance has been on my watch list for about 2 months now, haven't watched it yet. You can check out my anime list if you need something new to watch, might have something in there that will interest you.

Well, politics may be involved. Japan and China are in a state of great tension lately over some territorial disputes.

 

But that said, yes, there is a plethora of things China bans. They have what amounts to their own internet. They need their own localized versions of video games with no representations of human bones or pandas. Pornography has been entirely illegal, as far as I know, for a long time in China.

both of them are wort watching IMO. Zankyou no terror more particularly. There isnt really much story for high school of the dead. Its just a simple entertianing anime
