Apple sues Samsung over S6 and S6 edge!

better specs and a non beta as fuck OS.

the iPhone 6 is blisteringly fast, especially in games, better app store, amazing camera, etc, who cares whats its numbers are on paper, its a great phone, in nearly every way, sure it has down sides, nothing is perfect, but I still love mine, its my favourite gadget that I own

I prefer iOS to android (and I have plenty of android devices and experience) - the ONLY thing I like on android is running emulators, but I run those on my Shield because it has phyical controls - wouldnt care on a phone

Also touchwiz is a cancer

BUT, its subjective, for some people I know why they would prefer a samsung device, and others an iPhone

ANYWAY - this is not on topic - this is about copying and samsung obviously copied Apple here

I thought they agreed to bury their axes but here we go again. Big companies are paying too much for their lawyers so they can't just let them sit and not sue anyone.

They did, but now Samsung are getting worse they cant just sit around letting their devices get copied. One of Apples biggest strengths are its design and brand identity - there is a distinctive look to an Apple product

if samsung copy that, then they are either A) damaging apples reputation or B) profiting off making people think its similar to an Apple device

This time, Samsung deserve to be sued if you ask me. It is kinda hard to differentiate the two from a distance, sorry Samsung, you took it too far. Earbuds too btw.

Yes subjective, i have used the S6 and have noticed improvements in TouchWiz, but it's still not as good as AOSP.

Do they look a like? Yes. Does it matter? No. This kind of thing will always happen in this industry and it will keep happening. This time around is Samsung taking inspiration from Apple's design, and next time it might be the other way around. This is not something that happens only in hardware but in software. iOS takes inspiration from Android and vice versa. If everytime a look alike appears everybody goes nuts sueing everybody then the industry will never move forward.

Yeah, though Samsung manufacturing are completely separate to Samsung's phone department, I am sure they make a pretty penny

Whats funnier is that they cannot use those parts in their own stuff and sometimes use really shitty hardware, even when they make better stuff themselves

just like a Mitsubishi air conditioner is nothing to do with an Evo rally car :P

never got on with windows phones, I love the interface and design, but I never liked the actual phones, or the terrible app store

True they are different divisions but still the same company. Nothing stopping them putting up their prices to pay for the lawsuit

There is inspiration, and there is blatant copying, I mean have you seen those new samsung earpod copies?

The thing is, brand image is a massive thing to companies, another company profiting off your designs is horrible, there is being inspired by, like making it metal, or a dual tone flash, and then there is outright copying the design

I actually think that Samsung didn't copy anything that other companies have already done - metal design, antenna placement or glass back -- I'm imagining the HTC One, Nexus 4, heck even some XIaomi phones. What Samsung did copy is Apple's design philosophy and I think that can only benefit us, the consumer.

I see what you're saying, but I disagree. The same stuff even happens in music - least in the metal/hardcore genre. Everyone's copying some popular band and only change a little something, then some bands don't even bother with originality. It's really stupid.

I'm 100% sure better ideas can be thought up without having to blatantly copy another idea.

People aren't competing the same way in music. Though lawsuits happen for blatant copies, it's not the same. Samsung copies because they aren't relevant otherwise.

Oh come on Samsung, Apple is totally justified in this. The S6 is a CARBON COPY OF THE IPHONE 6. Literally the entire design looks like an iPhone, with the button, the outfacing camera, the whole body itself, all EXACTLY THE SAME. The bottom charging spots from that picture in the OP, they are literally identical. There's no way that Samsung will win, this is just plain ridiculous by Samsung.

Consumers lose out because they go with Samsung, poorly implemented features, bloated, bad design, gimmicks and bad support.

HTC and Motorola have good phones.

Samsung has good marketing.
