Thought I might try out AMD , what CPU to buy ?

Another vote for #3. For the games you play it will suit you best.

Also, you might need a new OS depending on which version of Windows you have since you'll be switching motherboards.

@Shaper 1s to all...

welcome to the forum new friend  ^_^

k, back to the topic

i did have a similar problem some time back

and (after a lot of thinking) i buy my lovely apu A10

why ?

i like "have" a backup igpu in my system

just in case i decide "sell" my old gpu (7850 ftw)  ;)

and buy a new one (with the money i get)

with the new A10 8850k in way

the (also new) A10 7850k is in a great price to buy now

(and his igpu have GCN architecture inside, yey)

so... i do recommend go for the A10 7850k today  B)

(or any A10 or A8 with GCN inside, but that is just me and my mind)  :)

The i3 has an iGPU don't forget.

Wich ones of theese current packages give me the most bang for my buck. Im sorry if this is an even worse question.
number 3 is the best choice, hands down...you might want 8GB of RAM...just add more down the road.

non GCN inside the i3  <_<

so i stay with the A10 7850k (with GCN inside)

The gap is actually twice what you make it out to be. Not sure why you use the stock cooler for the Intel and not the AMD

Edit - And there are far cheaper motherboards by ASRock available for AM3+

the stock cooler for the i5 is perfectly fine because it runs cool.  the 8320, on the other hand, does not.  And you won't be overclocking it at all with the stock cooler.

Some words on APU's: Massive bottle necks due to very weak cores.

The 7850k he mentioned uses the "new" steamroller cores, and when overclocked it can compete with an i3. Not a bad option, but there's no upgrade path and the OP already has a GPU.

it sure is!...try to run a GTX 970 on your APU and monitor your GPU loads in games...get ready to be VERY disappointed.

i play lot AAA games (perfectly fine) with my A10 and my 7850 friend

and "not the crap games" that people use on benchmarks B)

(Tomb Raider 2013, Metro LL, and blah blah blah)

and... i know she is not a bottleneck here

but yea... is true that if you add 4x Titan X... is a bottleneck lol

but this is not the case here

ask any guy that use a "four core athlon" and they will tell you

they are happy with his cpu (or apu) + gpu

but yes... an i5 is the best buy this days

and yes... an i7 5000ultraKextremeBMF runs better that a tiny four core athlon

(i know right ? shocking)

but you don't get a "massive" bottleneck as the guy i reply have say

not true  ;)

You do not buy an APU when you already have a dGPU, which is why option 3 is still the best. And why I am not recommending any APUs.

this is a very old controversed video he tested with GTX 670 which is considered low end nowadays and this fix is now included in windows 7 and windows 8 updates..these videos are the worst ever made never link them again!

Of course any ''somewhat'' modern CPU will perform nearly identical with such a GPU...they can all max out the GTX 670 at 1080p in multi-threaded games...even a stock FX-4300 will perform the same as a i7-5960X in such conditions.

Says the guy trying to pass Ubisoft games as serious benchmarks.

Look guys, I think we can finally agree that both Intel and AMD are crap, and that he needs to get a PowerPC CPU. The benchmarks speak for themselves...

LOL.

So we should not include certain popular titles because they make FX look bad? That's cherry picking...

Whether you like it or not, Ubisoft's games are still played by many people, and so are games like Arma/Dayz even though they aren't optimized very well.

? Not because they make FX look bad. Just because they're poorly optimized buggy ports. Ubisoft (or should i say the Eastern Euros they to ''port'' this don't give a fuck for making it playable by anything else than Intel/Nvidia.

Like what are you trying to prove with these benchmarks? Nvidia could release a PCI-E Potato it would still do better cuz they don;t give any form of support to AMD.
