So when will the winners be announced? Or are they already all announced? Or are they in the middle of announcing them and if so then when will they finish being announced?

I've used Vessel a couple of times now, and I'm not sure if I'm missing it or not, but is there not a search function for uploaded videos on a channel?

Unsure if any of the Linus Media Group employees will read this however I felt it necessary to explain my concerns about Vessel

Im aware there is room for plenty of improvement for a newly surfacing streaming company so the issues I have are at time of this post only.

Streaming in anything above Low quality seems to cause the stream to stutter whilst it catches up, very frequently... making it unwatchable

Im unsure if this is due to Australia's horrible internet interconnects to other countries or if its just something Vessel are yet to polish up for us Aussies....
The only thing I'm fairly confident it is not is a local issue

Home internet is 200mbit (2 NBN connections teamed if anyone thinks its not possible)
Work internet is 20 - 50mbit depending on the site...

All the high bandwidth connections i have available on independent ISP's all result in a simmilar issue, either Low quality to stabilise the stream or a jerky higher quality.

Im afraid for the short/medium term i will have to resort to continuing to watch the videos on Youtube albeit later than id like due to the 1 week delay for content to reach that platform. But unfortunately my hands are tied due to the Linus Media Group focus on Vessel being the launch platform.

Please note though...

Im not arguing that this is unfair or a wrong move from LMG, You have a business to run and are expanding to new areas to try to increase the revenue stream, this I applaud you for as no company like yours survives without revenue streams.

I hope you can provide feedback to the Vessel team regarding the inconsistent stream speed that we Aussies seem to receive.
I've also noticed there is no way to buffer the whole video.... if this was possible to wait for it to buffer i would probably be satisfied for the short/medium term on the Vessel platform, this doesn't seem possible either

Shame but good luck with this new platform and direction that LMG is heading... Try not to forget about us guys in the process

I really like the model of paid early access but right now, vessel does not seem to be up to the task. I have a number of issues with them:

1. No Android app. Seriously, wtf? Android is such an important os, how can you launch a "premium" video platform without mobile support?

2. Loading times. Not sure how it is in the US, but from what I have read I am not the only one living somewhere else that is unable to properly stream content.

3. Playback options or rather lack thereof. Why isn't there a more granular option to adjust resolution? And no 4k is serious issue if the platform is behind a paywall.

As of right now, I don't just see no reason to switch, but couldn't even if I wanted to because vessel can't properly provide their service. I really hope these problems get fixed, because I would be willing to pay for ltt content.

The 72hour offer ended March 26, 2015 @ 11:59pm PST.

Apparently they have drawn the first patch. You can check the names from original giveaway thread.

Does anyone have problems when visiting the linustech vessel page (through direct link in the url bar) that the page often is blank? I get this often as well as when clicking on the videos tab it doesn't actually go to videos.

As you can see, I'm on the videos tab but it only shows featured. None of the tabs work.

So far Vessel hasn't won me over, I'm impressed by the number of YouTubers I watch that they managed to get on board but I really dislike the UI (is it designed for 4K screens or something?) and as much as I dislike a lot of what YouTube does (I wish that gawd damn autoplay would permanently disappear rather than having one month off, one on but at least there's an option even if you have to reselect it every day) and I would love to move to a better platform sadly I think Vessel has a hell of a lot of work to do before they could be considered a viable alternative IMO, I couldn't even sign up on my desktop PC the DOB fields wouldn't work I ended up having to do it through my laptop.

If this is a beta I hope they can pull it all together down the track but it feels like they pushed too hard too soon and that's probably not going to do them any favours. At least for now I'll be sticking to the one week delayed content.

It's weird, but in the search bar where you can search for channels, it won't come up with any results until you press enter, and it will show matching videos. If you mean just searching on one channel, there is none to my knowledge.

Got a problem.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox on Lubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. I don't have the problem when I'm running Linux Mint 17.1.

not something on your end, but vessel kind of annoys me just for the fact that everything is so huge on the screen all the time. it'll show like 3 video thumbnails but they're huge, rather than more like youtube where you could fit 30. kinda wish they wouldn't do that it really bugs me. oh well, maybe they'll change it later.

Just a normal guy with a constant desire to modify everything he owns.

Please ad the date the video is posted like is easily found on YouTube.

I am not sure that I personally will pay $2.99 per month for Vessel after the first year. If it was not free I definitely would not have paid that much just to check it out. $20 per year then absolutely. $25 per year maybe and only up to $30 per year if I find a lot of other sights that I want to check out regularly.

Thanks for fixing the Video Quality on Vessel.

To me it doesn't matter if its Vessel or Youtube, I will use Vessel if it helps LMG more.

My only concern is, Vessel needs a mobile app NOW.

99% of Videos I watch on Youtube are from my phone & I can't switch to Vessel for LMG stuff if they don't have an Android app. Please tell them to make one, I'm sure it will help boost their adoption.

Thanks.

If you guys expect me to pay for early access at least turn down the amount of in video ad/promotion on Vessel videos and do the intros/outro for Vessel.

And reading the landing page for creators I felt reading an snake oil ad.

Ugh. I thought I liked vessel but it's driving me up the wall. It seems everytime I access a page on there through a direct link nothing seems to work. I click on a video... nothing happens. I click on the video tab (or any tab)... nothing happens.

Always getting "Oops! Looks like you need to update your browser to its latest version to stream this video". No videos I've tried except Veritasium works! I can watch html5 on youtube just fine. How do I solve this? I'm on latest firefox stable.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I don't feel like going through 47 pages of posts.

Is it at all possible for LMG to embed the Vessel Videos into a forum post similar to how you were doing it with Youtube?  That way we can have discussions about the videos on the forum instead of the Vessel comments section?

Sorry if this isn't the most appropriate place to ask, but what happened to the giveaway? I wanted to participate, but every time I checked in the last few days, the forum was offline. Now that it is back online, the thread is locked. What do?

So let me drop a few issues with Vessel in here. If they've happened to be discussed before, it just shows how frustrating they are.

1. Their website is overblown as hell. For crying out loud, I'm viewing it on a 24" 1920x1080 PC monitor, and not a goddamn tablet! The usability of the interface is negative - MMB to "Open in new tab" does NOT work, it's lagging and unresponsive due to HEAVY animation and real-time server query workload, and there are no freakin' options. Like, you can just click a video, watch it, done, move on to "more from". Where is all the useful stuff that YouTube has had for years? I can share to Facebook and Twitter - that's cool, but where the heck are all the other sharing websites? And why is it all so sloppy?

2. Their player is a hopeless pile of garbage. I can stream 1080p from YouTube no problem, but suddenly Vessel decides that NOPE I can't watch videos in high quality, unless I want to suffer an eternity of stuttering and buffering pauses - so I'm left trying to not have my eyes burnt while watching LTT in something near 360p, in a crappy player that drops in a HUGE frame freeze at the beginning of literally every video, has completely unresponsive UI and takes AGES to load when you get to the video playback page, so you can't even immediately pause it (and let it buffer or whatever) and switch to a different tab.

3. Their sidebar menu, clickable elements and video links work obscurely at best. I'm absolutely NOT happy with the experience I'm getting from trying to use Vessel like I would use a video streaming website and like I do use YouTube. Zooming out in Chrome to about 50% to be able to scroll through some shit popping up on my feed? Thanks, I'll wait those few days and watch LTT on YouTube.

By the way, I really love LTT, I just hope you guys can somehow let Vessel know that they're not very good coders and that they should get to work real quick, so that their platform can get usable at some point.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to understand more about your specifics so we can troubleshoot further. I'll DM you! The open in a new tab should work now but sounds like it's not in this case.

I can't say I've had any issues with Vessel, but it really isn't part of my daily routine at all, and I often forget to check it..

Have they announced the winners yet?

I like the design of the site, interface, navigation and everything BUT.. it's impossible for me to watch videos at this point:

Video quality on Low: video loads ok but the quality is so bad(pixelated) it ruins the experience. For me to watch and enjoy a video it has to be 720p or above.

Video quality on Medium: video quality is ok but the video can't load/buffer fast enough to the point that I have watch 20 seconds of it and then pause and wait a minute to load another 20 seconds, then watch it, then pause again... you get the idea. Maybe I should open the video and wait till it loads/buffers completely and then watch it? No, the site uses the same type of "buffering" that youtube uses that let the video buffer only to a certain point and it continues to load only when you reach another point. Deal breaker.

Video quality on High: Good quality but the loading situation is even worse - the video doesn't load at all.

It baffles me how it's possible for the site with so nice aesthetics and content to be so bad at providing it most important feature - letting people actually be able to consume their content.

I mean seriously Vessel.. the shittiest, sketchiest porn sites that look like created by a lame monkey, I've been to have a faster loading videos. Vessel is literally the slowest video loading site of all the sites(that have any video watching functionality) I ever visited in my life. Idk if it's your servers, your internet provider, your programmers, video compression method or what but you need to get your shit together. And it annoys me so much because I go to Vessel and there are few videos that I really want to watch but can't and have to wait for them to appear god knows how many days later on youtube... such a bad tease.

If it matter, my internet speeds although I don't have issues with other video sharing sites.

My internet speed to a server in my country:

4266607281.png

To a server in Portland OR(closest I could find to vessel's IP).

4266628607.png

Ping to vessel.com from my pc:

I don't get any ping(Request timed out) but the site opens and videos on low are watchable as I said, weird.

EDIT: Things have improved a lot since few days, no longer having issues.
