The Gtx960 is. well not anything special

Timopomer

From what i can see the 960 isnt a good deal compared to the 970 or the 280 because power consumption is pretty much meaningless.

the bang/buck isnt that good and the price doesnt make sence.

they could have made the 960 at about 170-180 bucks ot make more sense but at this price point just get a 970 if you want a gaming card that will last for more than 1 year

It's as meaningless as this topic of yours... comparing a GTX960 with a 970 or a R9 280. The R9 280 and the GTX970 are lightyears away from each other in terms of performance and price.

I don't mind it, it's supposed to be a mid range card affordable to more people, obviously you shouldn't expect top tier performance.

A gtx 970 still costs much more than the 960.

And the 960 has 760 performance whereas the 970 has 780 performance

A gtx 970 still costs much more than the 960.

And a 960 is still much worse than a 970.

They're overpricing the 960, just like they did with the 760 except this time the difference between X60 and X70 is insane.

It's a $160-$170 card at most.

Imagine this in a consolekiller build. It's fucking perfect. 1080p 60fps performance in a small package and virtually no heat output.

If you expected it to be groundbreaking in performance with 1024 maxwell shaders, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Did the AMD smearcampaign got to you or something? -_-

Nvidia just told AMD to go fuck themselves. Trading blows with their competition at a MUCH lower costs to themselves (small chip and small memorybus=cheap production).

You guys are clueless, sorry.

It should be like $200 imo.

I think they may only be releasing it at this price to get early adopters, then slash it down when AMD releases things to $200.

I thought its launch price was $200...? Anyways, whatever it is it will be going down once AMD launches the 300 series.

Anyone getting a 960 over a 280 / 280x is a true fanboy, there just is no reason to get the 960 as it stands now with the price it has.

No need, nvidia did the campain by themselves with the price on this card, and since when does a 280 / 280x get too hot for any mini PC's as well as coming in ITX versions like the 960 does, while being better at everything ?.

I was adressing him that they are not in the same price point.

Of course the 960 is much worse than the 970. I believe that there is such a difference in performance so that nvidia can release a gtx 960 ti in the future. Kinda obvious.

IDK I saw something about it being like $259

edit: nvm it is $200 apparently, I don't actually think it's that bad then.

I don't understand why people rage so hard about such a low end product... this is just follow up card. This particular price segment is full of good and nice price to performance options. Who ever thought nVidia will bring with the GM206 a killer chip that you can easily OC to the performance of a R9 290 or GTX970 for 200USD should stop smoking what ever he/she smokes.

Can't say "Just buy a 140$+ card"... Some people wouldn't spend that much money just to jump from high to ultra. While the price is not extremely nice, it's pretty reasonable.

I don't know what do you expect with every new GPU, but Nvidia or AMD can't make miracles and they won't lower the prices unreasonable low just to make us happy.
However, i believe Nvidia should make a 960Ti. That would be the sweet spot.

It just released, why are you arguing prices compared to cards that have been on the market over a year.

2GB is fine for 1080p, and is about all the memory bus could take anyway.

They aimed this card for a specific market. Which is GOOD. Fuck those jack-of-all-trades devices these days. Just do one thing properly.

People don't seem to understand how this business works.

Nvidia can't possibly release something that's ~half the price of a 970, and make it perform the same, because people will stop buying 970s.

They have to continue selling their products until the line is updated, then they can make something that performs like a 970 & is the same price or cheaper.

Exactly the GTX960 will be interesting for some HTPCs or OEM builders, but for most people it is a wink to look into a different performance bracket because for 320USD you get highend performance with the GTX970 that was only available one year earlier with a GTX780 at the price of 500+ USD.

Why buying this:

When spending some more money and getting power like that:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133564

This is just a marketing trick to make the highend stuff looking more appealing.

i think nobody expected this card to be so weak...gosh it's barely any faster than the GTX 760...i think we we're all expecting a card to would battle with the R9 280X and defeat the GTX 770 in terms of performance...not the case at all...what a bummer for the end users.

Yet the card will sell. Yes it doesnt stack up to the 280 but the 280 is years old hardware. Once AMD releases the 300 series and the 960s competitor the price will drop.
