NVIDIA Tesla K80 - GK210 GPU

NVIDIA has finally unveiled its fastest professional graphics card. Tesla K80 features two Kepler GK210-DUO GPUswith a total of 4992 CUDA cores, 416 TMUs and 96 ROPs. Two GPUs are accompanied by 24GB GDDR5 memory across dual 384-bit interface.NVIDIA TESLA K80 is twice as fast as TESLA K40, with 2.9 TFLOPS double-precision computing power. The single-precision horsepower is reported somewhere at 8 TFLOPs, which should give you an idea of how fast is it compared to normal gaming graphics cards. Thanks to dual-384-bit interface, this card offers 480 GB/s of memory bandwidth. That’s slower than TITAN Z, but TITAN only has 12 GB GDDR5 memory, whereas TESLA K80 comes with 24 GB.TESLA K80 also supports GPU Boost, similar to K40. Speaking of older Teslas, K80 went through small design update. We have similar magnesium alloy known from GEFORCE GTX TITAN coolers. It reminds me of GRID appliance (as shown below)According to WCCFTech, NVIDIA TESLA K80 will cost around $7000.

Here are the new details about the Tesla K80 posted by AnandTech.

Tesla K80 Specifications:

Stream Processors: 2 x 2496

Core Clock: 562MHz

Boost Clock(s): 875MHz

Memory Clock: 5GHz GDDR5

Memory Bus Width: 2 x 384-bit

VRAM: 2 x 12GB

Single Precision: 8.74 TFLOPS

Double Precision: 2.91 TFLOPS (1/3)

Transistor Count: 2 x 7.1B

TDP: 300W

Cooling: Passive

Manufacturing Process: TSMC 28nm

As far as the specifications are considered NVidia seems to have decided to max out everything they could. They have stuck with 384 bit bus though as linus pointed out in his recent video.

Kind of disappointing they didn't have Titan in the name :P

First, that's one sexy card.

dat-ass-meme.jpg

Second, if that's a full GM210 core, then the 210 chip has 2,496 CUDA cores in whatever will be the highest level gaming card. That's a butt-ton of performance omg.

Who would need such a thing? (24GB ram?!)

Animation studios?

How would it perform in games?

read this on here http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2616/tesla-k80.html

It wouldnt. i mean, it has no output. and drivers would really limit it

Yes but like 24GB is a lot ol

ill give you a hint, the more ram a render engine has, the more it can use.

Cooler looks like shit.

Anyone who does not have a sister hates the fact that Kasugano Sora isn't his sister.
I'm not insulting anyone; I'm just being condescending. There is a difference, you see...

480GB/s! Not bad!

240 per GPU. so nothing amazing. otherwise it would need to have 12GHz (ish) memory
