best way to drill a hole into cpu?

i found a dead i7 920 that i would like to put on my key chain. what would be the best way to drill a hole in it? i don't have a power drill

1. Find a friend with/Get a power drill

2. Use a thin drill bit and slowly drill a hole in an appropriate area on the pcb

3. File down the edges very slightly. (Seriously.. Those things are pointy)

would probably shatter it but a .22 target point round is actually quite good at punching holes in things.

 

Other than that, power drill or dremel tool

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

I7-920s aren't really expensive, maybe brand new because they aren't manufactured anymore but used ones on eBay go for less than even $50

You can go to a metal work shop and they'd probably just charge a few dollars to drill a hole through it.
Are you in school or know someone who is? Their metal work shop and wood work shop will both have drill presses. They're what you'd want to use.

meh, yeah, you're right.. but it was quite expensive at its time.. still a good CPU :D

I'm still using an i7-930 and other than being blazingly hot (idling at 50C) I don't feel the need to upgrade yet, hope it lasts a few years more

a hole punch maybe. But that could crack it. Find a drill press.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.
