WASD vs ESDF

Jaybird

why do we use "WASD" instead of "ESDF"? by using "ESDF" you recieve an extra 3 keys to use. I think im going to start using this instead.

It's because it's closer to the Shift, Ctrl, Caps, and Tab key.

Gotta leave the pinky on shift. That wouldn't work for me with ESDF. Perfect spacing with WASD.

My hand sits nicely on wasd, wheather of not thats because of muscle memory or just general layout, Iduno. My pinky finger seems to be just the right size. Where as easd I have to scew my hand in order for the keys to sit comfortably.

WASD for the win. I think this may be getting bad as my hand goes straight to wasd on a keyboard.

Well I've mostly used WASD, sometimes using the arrow keys when I feel like it. I guess WASD just feels a little natural as it isn't as much of a stretch.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

As a 10 finger typist, when gaming, I usually use my ring finger for W, pinky finger for A, ring finger again for S and middle finger for D, To prevent confusion when the next time I type.

Using ESDF is nothing new.

Some MMO players use it to get the extra keys.

I personally couldn't get used to it.

Though I ackowldeg that ESDF is better, WASD just feels nicer imo and is the norm nowdays anyways. I do like my arrow keys sometime though.
