I have never heard of anyone using ESDF until this thread lol.

I used to play with WASD, until I watched video game highschool :p on the blackboard in a class there is written : "WASD < ESDF", I tried it, and actually love it.

I live in Belgium, so about 99.99% of keyboards is azerty, you have to remap every key anyway here :-)

WASD, just seems more natural.

ESDF, started using that in world of warcraft because together with the shift and alt modifiers, the Q and W became 6 extra free buttons.

+ the fact I have rather small hands so I could easier reach 6 which before I could not.

ESDF just rocks.

Now if they would stop bringing out keyboards I like with WASD, or atleast give regular keys with them like the K70, that would be awesome :p

And since I used it for every game actually, can't get used to WASD anymore

WASD. What are the benefits of ESDF, aside from having the locator on the "f"?

I have kind of big hands, i have extra keys available like this.

I can reach

azertqsdfghwxcvb, space, shift, alt, ctrl, 12345

I type a lot of text (chatting, but also summaries of my class-syllabusses), it just doesn't feel natural to me, not to have the locator on my left index finger.

I do a lot of my weapon switching on my mouse so I tend to use wasd for easier tab, shift and crtl access :)

I use WASD because it's the standard layout and I don't like trying to remap everything and hadn't considered ESDF until this thread. But personally, trying it now, ESDF seems more natural, it feels easier to reach the Tab, Caps, Shift, and CTRL keys you guys are bringing up, and I don't really consider myself having large hands (7 inches/17.5cm from wrist to middle finger tip.) Voted WASD though because that's what I've always used.

Appreciate the explanation, thanks. Have since tried it out and think I may switch to ESDF over WASD.

WASD for the win. I think this may be getting bad as my hand goes straight to wasd on a keyboard.

Same, even if I'm just going on to do browsing or something my hand goes straight there.
