why do we use "WASD" instead of "ESDF"? by using "ESDF" you recieve an extra 3 keys to use. I think im going to start using this instead.

I just tried this out but my pinky almost always hits the windows key instead of Ctrl. And to the person who voted in the poll and answered arrow keys your still playing Doom? Don't get me wrong I enjoy myself some nightmare Doom as well but I at least use the Doomsday engine which allows for modern control schemes.

No, not "nuff" said.

What do you mean bij this? when I play in esdf-mode, I can easily reach tab ctrl and shift... In esdf mode, you get all the keys you get from wasd + extra column of keys to the right + q + w + a.

I don't have that problem, the only "symbol" key that is on the left of an azerty keyboard is <\>, all the rest of the symbols are positioned right.

No, WASD is already more difficult on the german layout because the left shift key is shorter than on most other layouts, moving even further to the right would be really awkward. I really like having wider keys for the pinky because it is not as accurate as the other fingers imo.

BTW could you add numberpad to the poll? I know some left handed gamers that use the numberpad with their right hand and the mouse with their left ;)

Mostly WASD, but I did experiment with ESDF on GW2, and it felt a little weird at first. I haven't had much time to get used to it.

mostly racing games,

Because I have the feeling I can reach more keys and the little dot on the F feels naturally :)

Gotta use a anolog controller for racing games.

Not for racing games you are hindering yourself without an anolog stick.
