Apparently it's a bit sluggish on the 4S. A little confusing considering that the 4S is both dual core and has 512MB.

Tea, Metal, and poorly written code.

I don't currently own a iPhone or iPad but I'm interested to see want iOS 8 brings, it seems to be the only thing that's going to separate the iPhone 6 from current Android Flagship phones.

They always screw up with the slowest phone on the update like like they did with he iPhone 4 on iOS 7 which was really bad until iOS 7.1. Now they will do the same with the iPhone 4s.

Why is iOS so huge (>2gb)? AOSP is about 200mb and around 400mb including all of the stock apps last time I checked.

Nope, but TBH it wouldn't run very well on an iPhone 4.

Good thing my iPhone 6 is on pre-order ;)

Hopefully the iOS jailbreak developers have something cooking.

I remember with iOS 7, Apple made it far more difficult than normal to get an untethered jailbreak going. Hopefully with iOS 8, this isn't the case.

Maybe, maybe not. Technically, OS releases are news. Windows 9's release will be posted here. As was Windows 8.1's.

yes but those topics arent yearly and expected. plus, this op just said it was released, i would have been more ok with it if he/she added what new features there were and such. also im sure no one would want a topic "windows 9 released" either

I know a lot of people seem to hate Apple, and I really can't blame them, but there is no need for people to get so upset about OP discussing a new OS! People will use what they want, I prefer iOS for my phone, and a windows based build for my main computer, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying everything both sides has to offer!

It is like me complaining that a PC built for XP runs Vista or 7 slowly. It just doesn't meet up in terms of specs.

Rewrite that as "a PC built for 98SE running on XP" and you have my dad. xD

On-topic: Currently "preparing update", will update post later.

Lol if you don't use an iphone 5s or 6 then the IOS lags like hell. Ive updated an iphone 5 and theres significant frame drops and lag while trying to multitask between a VIDEO AND MESSAGES. Don't even get me started on games...

*Looks a Windows 8 Phone* *looks at apple phone* no thanks, I enjoy not having most of my memory taken up by the OS, and I enjoy being able to expand that memory.

I still remember the day i stepped out of the cage called iOS, a whole new world opened before my eyes. Now i can do whatever i want, FREEDOM! :)

I did that it my OnePlus One. Can honestly say, it's barely any different for what I do, besides the bigger screen, and horribly inconsistent CyanogenMod 11S updates, and bugs. :/

At least I got my iPad 2 updated to iOS 8, so I have that going for me.

I still need to see if I can get the ancient iPad to do this

Not fully, but okay.

Well obviously certain things don't work, many of which are due to hardware restrictions. But my 4S gets the blur effects, Siri, Flyover, and all that stuff.
