Not very impressed with Titan X. Yeah it rocks at 4K but its about as fast as 970 SLI in everything under that

It overclocks like Kepler did. Not impressed at all.

This card manages on air 1350+ MHz with this big DIE size... I´m not sure if you guys are real here. There are 4K scenarios, where this card is in single OCed as fast as 2 GTX980 in SLI...

EDIT: And I beg your pardon, for what else is this card made if not pure enthusiasts and 4K?!? If you want to play in 1080p there´s no need for this baby... and btw neither there´s a need below 4K for your 4way SLI...

Not even impressed in the slightest bit. This was from Guru 3D's review of the Titan X it was overclocked and boosted to 1367  on the core and the memory could only hit 7806 effective.

Granted this would like a Single 980 at 1700MHz plus on the core and around 8200MHz for the effective memory clock.

Do you not remember the Maxwell launch? They said Maxwell was the overclockers dream, well here is Big Maxwell not even showing impressive numbers for clock speeds. Yes its a 28nm die and it has 3k cuda cores. For a card on air that is using the original Titan style Vapor chamber? Its impressive, overall though its getting just barely fast enough to keep up with SLI 970's let alone a 295x2.

That's if you win the silicon lottery ;) I guess a big part of my disappointment comes down to the fact that they should of waited for AMD's 300 series to launch and be out for a bit, before dropping the Titan X Bombshell. What are they gonna do if the 390x lives up to the name AMD has been trying to get for so long on a GPU, you know the name "Titan Killer"

Did you see any results OCed with custom watercoolers or LN2? But you compare LN2 benchmarks to a card that runs on air... nobody knows yet about the real OCing potential of this chip yet.

And according to your statement here will the big AMD chip be a nightmare to OC since the DIE size will be even bigger with 4096Shaders.

H2o compared to air, not ln2. A set back already is the memory with as much as it has memory OCing will be hard. AMD GPU's have always been a pain in the ass to OC since day 1, Nvidia isn't any better and you should know that. If anything AMD gives users more to play with, since they don't have any regulatory system in place for the GPU manufacturing process in terms of voltage controllers and addition things that board partners add on to the PCB of the card. Ever since Nvidia brought about the Greenlight program I have had a love hate relationship with what Nvidia does for GPU's. Maxwell has been a disappointment, you know why? Because all the voltage regulation is driver controlled in the end, yes you have the BIOS mods you can do and what not, but that is only gonna go so far.

End of rant...

Well no offense given or taken my friend :).

Right now all I care is 4K benchmarking and gaming. This card is unstoppable in 4K. That´s the only reason why I even buy it. I´m not totally insane and jump on every wagon that´s within my reach. I want something kick ass and nice looking for 4K, and this card is what I was looking for. I was honestly disappointed in the GTX980. Not because of the obvious pretty much equal performance to the GTX780Ti. I knew that, but you know the R9 290X is much older than the GM204 and is on par with it in 4K. Of course not in synthetic benchmarks, but in applications and games. Both cards with adequate cooling and a R9 290X CF rocks 4K as good as the GTX980. That´s why I ended up buying 3 cards. To improve as much as possible. The e-peen was nothing but a bonus. If people buy hardware just to show off, then sorry they are retarded... a GPU isn´t as fancey as a whole nice water cooled custom PC.

Well I'm still up in the air because I am picking up at 3440x1440p ultra wide in a few months, if AMD is a let down with the 300 series I'll go to big Maxwell and make my wallet suffer. I just need GPU's to play with for awhile again. I spent over 1200 hours just fine tuning my 770's and I parted with them because of VRAM. VRAM has been a big issue for me for the past year. Just any game I'm hitting the 2GB cap on the cards cause I'm all about Ultra settings or don't play at all. Plus ya know I buy GPU's to just end up killing them at some point with overclocking :)

Done on air (not me).

You guys haven't been looking in the right places for the results.

And to be honest its plain STUPID to look at clockspeed. It's Performance/Clock that matters. Didn't learn anything from NetBurst.

That said 35% faster than 980.? 390X will probably be faster.

It will clock roughly ~100Mhz less than the 980 on air, as it has a Higher TDP. This card shouldn't be bought for OCing anyways, 6+2 phase is not enough.

Either Nvidia should allow non-refrence design or wait for the cut down 6GB version which hopefully comes out. I am not a big fan of all the trouble you have to go for overclocking on Nvidia.

The ELITE LN2 guys will be soldering additional PCB on the refrence for monster clocks, but I don't have the soldering skills.

My money is on the 390X though, my Wallet is ready for a 390X Lightning.

This

Its impossible on AIR.

Have to be in 1% to do it on water.

And even on LN2 there is a hurdle called the BlackScreen. There is a way around it, but its a hard mod.

Edit:- Not 1% on water, but you'll have to be lucky & a monsterous loop, like a MORA or something.

People said 1400 MHz on a Refrence 770(PCB and Cooler) was impossible. Yet I still managed to do it.

If I have a will, I will find a way to do it on air.

I don't know much about 770, so I can't judge how hard that was.

But I am one of the Intial buyers of the 290X Lightning, got it a few days after launch. And paid $750 for it.

If you bench 1350 on Air on something like Firestrike with proper effeciency, I'll GIFT you my card.

Edit:- No matter how tough your will, you can't defy Physics.

Challenge Accepted, I am still waiting to get a hold of my 290x Lighting still.

But yeah on air, the Coolers shroud was to hot to touch and the the location were the VRMS were just about hot enough to start cooking food.

FS E Pass for 1411MHz on the 770 :http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2833241

I'm gonna try for another 1400 MHz pass on it again since its my Samsung 770 that I kept.

Plus its still winter, keeping a card cool enough to do multiple runs at stupid voltages should be easy :D
