Oh hai!

Here comes the Acer Predator XB280HKbprz

Source from Materiel.net as pre-order (warning : french store website) : http://www.materiel.net/ecran-pc-lcd/acer-predator-xb280hkbprz-g-sync-107056.html

So apparently Acer is about to finally deliver this "wonderfull" XB280HKbprz 4K 3D TN display with gsync.
Compared to his brother (the XB280HK), this monitor will also allow you to use 3D vision if you accept the fact that you'll have to downgrade your brain at 30 fps since it's going to be in 3D-4K instead of 3D-1080p and without gsync (since it's not supported by the 3D vision yet). Kinda excited but no if crappy TN.

You said yourself it's a TN panel, then you say you're "excited, but not if it's TN".

Wat?

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

TN and its key selling point only works at 30hz?

No.

yeah pretty sure nothing can run 4k at 120hz (3D:60 for each eye) :/

Since linus proved us that there are some really good TN panel, I'd like to give it a chance =D

(edit) Btw I'm not sure if you can do 3D vision @ 1080p. At least I'm pretty sure that since it's a gsync monitor, we might be able to run 1080p @ 144Hz (hopefully*)

Oh good god. It's acer. Burn it to a crisp! Cheap plastic products that have a life span of about a year.

I have a 19" 1440 x 900 60Hz monitor that is 8+ years old. I'm currently using it as a secondary display and it still works just fine. It's actually pretty solid and well-built.

Also have an Acer C710 Chromebook - also very well made, and is one of very few Chromebooks with the option to upgrade the RAM and storage - a very good move on Acer's part, since most of the competing Chromebooks were/are significantly more expensive and are non-upgradable (stuck with only 16GB storage and 2GB RAM).

Several relatives of mine have pre-built Acer desktop PCs that are getting on in age (6-7+ years old) and still work just fine.

I could go on...

Acer has stepped up their game over the years and actually have quite a few really good products out there. So don't know why you're knocking them.

I own an acer 24" 1080p IPS and it looks really good for how inexpensive it was. Edge to edge glass and small bezel makes it great for dual monitor setup and the colors have been good enough with tweaks to do work in After Effects, Photoshop, and Maya.

I have owned plenty Acer machines and they were horrible. My friend owned a recent 2013 laptop and it died rather quickly. Needed mobo replaced.

Horrible in what way? Did they fall apart and or have issues / stop working? Or horrible in that you didn't like the specs?

I can tell you the Acer PCs my relatives own(ed) had not the greatest specs, but the fact of the matter is they still work and function well enough to perform the tasks they need them to, reliably.

So you know of *one* Acer laptop that had a motherboard failure (which is not the fault of Acer, but of the motherboard manufacturer (probably foxconn)) and that means all Acer products - no matter what they are - are all crap? Every manufacturer is bound to have a product fail at some point, especially with such complex electronic devices.

My sister-in-law also has an Acer laptop that's probably 3-4 years old now. It's a lower-end model and has had a rough life of being suffocated running on pillows and blankets, kicked, stepped on, bumped and tossed around, ingested I don't want to know how much dog hair, and it still works perfectly fine.

Acer has had a rather quiet reputation, not known as well among enthusiasts, but they have improved over the years and they do have many very good products.
