What's The Best FPS Of All Time

The first person shooter genera started in the 90's and has become the most popular form of video games. There have been some masterpieces, and there have been some duds. My picks for some of the best are, Halo combat evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, COD 4, Half life, Battleifeld bad company 2, the list goes on. What do you think the best FPS game ever is?

Objectively and subjectively, you're going to get very radically different answers here.

for me, the pinnacle of the FPS was COD Black Ops.

inb4 I get a lot of flak for this one, it's simply because of the people I played with. I can't think of a time i've had more fun playing an FPS before, or after that game. unfortunately, the group of guys I gamed with at the time have kind of gone their separate ways. I and another friend ascended to PC gaming, two of them more-or-less quit gaming shortly after the launch of MW3, another two hopped over to PS4, and the last one still has a ball on the 360 with a few friends (with no intentions of "upgrading" to an Xboner)

007 Goldeneye on the N64, While it may not have aged as well as others, it's definitely a pinnacle title for me.

Though in all honesty, I've never played much FPS games.  Though out of the few i've played.  I enjoyed Planetside 2 the most.

Strictly FPS? If we're including games that are simply first person and you shoot things, and not basing criteria mainly on combat mechanics, then I'd like to induct games with depth, story and art direction like Metro, BioShock, later Fallouts, and even Wolfenstein. My favorite so far being Metro Last Light. I'm sure Half Life would be up there..... But I haven't played it yet.... Shhhhh

I would go with Unreal Tournament 2004 myself. Haven't really played any other FPS as religiously.
