I think you need to find a new shop to go to in that case. My mother has a 2006 bmw 650ci and she had the coolant expantion tank crack and leak. At my local shop, it cost $190 to have that replaced along with new radiator hoses and temp sensors.

my Mom sold her 2007 328xi after it costed her over $5000 worth of repairs in a year and a half. Both the local BMW repair shop and the dealer in the next town charged the same kind of money for shop labour.

She is much happier with her Mercedes c350.

I'll just say it, if you have a budget of 25k but don't have another 10-15k set aside for repairs, do not go for a German or British car at all. Just don't do it. Not worth it to have a "cool" car.

I know way more many cases of people with those kinds of cars who had pathetic and near bank account breaking issues than I do those who had problem free ownership.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in getting a Honda Accord or something similar for the same money (or less) and having a vehicle that will serve you wonderfully.

First off don't be an ass if you were trying to be or not idk. That being said it's not for a cool car as you said. I want a reliable awd car for winter here. Not to be cool. I am posting here cause people here know more about cars then me. That being said I want something that can go long distances and hold luxurious at the second time.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

Not being an ass, just don't want you to make a bad move in getting a car that starts sucking your finances because its unreliable and has very costly upkeep.

If you require AWD, that does narrow down options a lot. I'd probably say the Fusion Titanium. The depreciation on those is pretty nice, you still get a decent car inside and out and its simple to keep going. Another plus for the Subaru Legacy.

Have you considered Volkswagen?
The R32 is AWD ;)

There are also a slough of 4Motion cars.

Parts are cheap.

Have a look at what he wants in a car for the price, he is gonna have to give up somewhere.

A buddy of mine and I did ball joints at the same time. My Focus and his 328i, I paid $60 for my ball joints, he was into it for almost $1000. Luxury cars are just plain more expensive. Period. There is no way to get around that. You can discuss whether or not they are worth it, but they certainly do cost more, to buy, and own.

Clearly.

If he paid $1000 for ball joints alone, they saw him coming. The whole control arm is around $200 if you look, with ball joint included. They're more expensive, yes, but not to that multitude.

Something doesn't sound quite right about your statement.

That is horrible. I always recomend to stay away from dealers or specialist shops because of this reason. They just take advantage of you and sometimes they even do a worse job than most of the family run shops.

Ummm first off the newer the car the higher the insurance rates. Second her dad is a chevy guy and so is our family, that being said I've always wanted to own an expensive luxury car mainly for traveling.

I've never had any DUIs. Our full coverage on both the 14 Fusion and 05 Mustang GT is $136/month. The year matters a bit but not much. No matter the year, if the car is worth $25K, the insurance premium will correspond. Especially since you're set on a sedan and not a coupe. Now that I have an idea of what you're looking for...My first recommendation would be the Hyundai Genesis sedan with the 5.0L.  I think there is an AWD option but not sure. I wouldn't go with a Euro if the insurance costs are a concern. Maintenance costs will kill the budget way faster than new car insurance premiums.

Since you have the cash, go brand new. There's no feeling like being care free. Drop half on the down payment to keep payments low. I paid cash for my 05 GT instead of putting down on the 14 GT, and it makes my ego shrink when a new GT pulls up next to me. (I wanted to wait for the 2015.) A cool old car is cool around other old cars. My brother just got the 14 GT... We've got 0% interest on the last 2 brand new cars we financed. I would take a look at the Chevy dealer and maybe get a new Cadillac.

I've looked at both. The Ford tho her dad would probably shoot me jk but he's a pure chevy guy

Well, I didn't read through a lot of the post, the others suggested.

But I'd say: DON'T buy a new car!
You can get a very good car with a very good equipement.
At first, where are you living? The US/Canada is something else than a car in Europe :)

Is it jsut for winter usage?
Or an alround car?
So probably it should be reliable, as you said safe and good for family usage...
Definitly a German car in my mind.

Maybe you could look for a BMW 7 series, a BMW 5 series and an Audi A6! (The A6 is a great choice for the AWD!)

Since you want a luxury car, what about the 2008 Chrysler 300? They had a awd version that I believed had a back up camera as well as sensors on the bumper.

Chrysler 300s have the same transmission as a town and country and they have some serious issues.

The thing is.

You can't really compare an A4 with a KIA,

An A4 will give you that quality premium feeling

A KIA won't, anyway OP I would risk it and go with

The A4, but the strange this is that... Why can't you

Go there and test drive it locally. Can i see the

Online advertisement please?

If you want something comfortable and for long Distance trips

i would say something like a Mercedes E or S class. Diesel

Diesel is very fuel economic so yeah. and a Mercedes  is very comfortable.

And offcourse allot of safety systems onboard aswell

But yeah you could also look at something less expensive offcourse.

Go there. Test drive it with the fiance. Fall in love with it. Have the best road trip of your life with your new car. Win?

Anyway if that's too risky for you you can always just get a Kia lol........... And it's cheap plastic interior and weak (but reliable) engine...
