Also, I kinda wanted to see the final product. You know, how the RAM lights up and all.

This video kind of reminds me of the old school LinusTechTips - spontaneous, less formal, super chill and shotty camera work. Really wish they would do more videos in this 'chill' style. Also good to see the sandals and socks getting in the spotlight, excellent.

Plasti dip works wonders. I have been using it for many years and love it. To get the best results though is to use plasti dip as the base coat, then apply real paint to it. this allows you to have a more wide variety of colors to chose from.

Very nice. I'm waiting to see how those light bars look on the Dominator Platinums.

Sure you didn't copy my own black Platinums, @LinusTech xD

Ah, I didn't think it would stick to the plastidip. Doesn't plasti have a nice finish though?

Yeah, spray paint sticks very well to plastidip. What I like to do is 3 light coats and 1 semi thick coat of plastidip then apply 3 light coats of spray paint. Plastidip has a very nice matte finish to them that looks awesome if you are going for that look and you can get the particular color you want in plastidip. To make plastidip glossy looking, you need to buy a can of plastidip's clear coat glossifier to spray over it once finished.

You can get multiple finishes in Plastidip now.

Matte, Gloss, Metallic, Satin, Pearl; the combinations you can get are basically unlimited

https://www.dipyourcar.com/

Those guys have EVERYTHING. And the tutorials to back it all up, I highly suggest going there if you want to start.

I mean, those products are what people put on SUPERCARS in substitute of vinyl wrapping, thats how durable and easy to take off it is. If someone can trust it on their 300k Ferrari, you can trust it on your PC.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Plastidip is good but this vid dose not really do a lot  of justice to someone looking to seriously paint their PC.

If you want to have a permanent solution I recommend:

1. Sand or Scratch the surface, (Sandpaper, sandblast, Steel wool, etc...)

2. Primer. Use white for a light color, grey for darker and black for darkest. Primer does so much on a good paint job; it makes the paint stick longer and allows the colors to pop more.

3. Apply the proper paint. do light layers and wait 10mins to a few days between layers (depends on the paint). Don't use metal paint on plastics or vice-verse. Same applies to primer.

4. Clear-coat and/or sealant. This will not only ensure the life of your paint but can add a gloss or flat finish to the part.

The tough part about painting is all the research. You have to make sure everything will not only work but will look how you want it to look.

If you are afraid of voiding your warranty, Plastidip is a good option because you can peel it off before you RMA the part.

I've used plasti dip for quite a while now, there have been a lot of misconceptions about it on the forums here and I hope now that most of them should be solved. Recently did my wheels and it was surprisingly easy to do.

Plasti Dip is around $20 per can in Ontario. Does anyone know where I can buy them cheaper? They're like $6-7 in the US.

How much plasti dip did you need for your paintjobs? I have ~ 60% of a black can left and i want to spray my motherboard.

@discussion: I painted my PCI slot covers and my HDD drive sleds with red paint and it turned out well and looks firiggin' good! :P

Edit: also painted my SSD and HDD. Don't do that. It turns out awefully. Looks good from a distance but only from a distance... :D
