After dealing with the issues plaguing my current PC I decided that an upgrade that wasn't from ebay was on the cards

Asus TUF F15 FX506HC

intel core i5 11400H

8GB DDR4 RAM

512GB M.2 SSD

RTX 3050 4GB

And even though it's hampered with RAM in single channel and a 4GB graphics card, it t-bagged the HP Z210 with its i5 2400, 16GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX 1050Ti in the FFXIV endwalker benchmark by almost doubling the final score by getting close to 12k (it also does good in the actual game getting nearly 100fps in a non crowded area).

Upgrades will be coming once I can figure out how to deal with one temperamental screw.

That's not far from my Lenovo idea pad 3 gaming.  I did do the 16GB upgrade on it though as soon as I got it.  I don't know what difference it made but i like to think it did a lot

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

i got my first car. A 2006 fiat panda with less than 42k miles. It had every single little bit of documentation that came with the car. Even the accessory booklet. It’s green and it came with a U2 album. It's a 1.1 litre Active model, apparently 4 cylinder 8 valve engine, thought it was 3 . It only makes 50 something HP according to the spec sheets but it hasn't been a problem, I've driven it home 15-16 miles 40-50mph and it doesn't feel particularly slow. I love the car to bits.

Ugh Homeworld Remastered Collection and Deserts of Kharak, Steam bundle for like $20 off. I'll probably be buying HW3 when it releases, I missed the demo dropping and had only one day, played the tutorial some but didn't have a lot of time to mess with it. HW3 demo auto defaulted to epic settings and my poor Vega56 was just chugging at a solid 35fps through the demo blasting out 220W. Time for a new GPU soon.

Come on, you can do worse than that! It's like you're not even trying.

Yellow fogs and a Rav4 radio knob for the GF's new Toyota, a Topside JR creeper for work so maybe I stop making my knees and back as angry all the time, a replacement borescope camera to replace the one that I ended up fixing so spare at work I guess, an Arctic P12 PWM in white with clear blades for my Asus Prime AP201 case rear fan, some Chinese food, 32GB (2x16) RAM for my laptop because too many tabs all the time.

@Kilrah You might be interested in the Renesas x LVGL x RT-Thread board:

Nice, might keep that in mind if I need Ethernet...

But it's pretty expensive once shipping is added, there seems to only be one source for it, and... I'm not a fan of those "manufacturer showcase" boards, they make them to advertise their components so hopefully you use them in your own designs, the board itself is a one-shot, docs and examples will never be updated after release etc... Compared to things like ESPs that are soooo popular they're not going away and available software/libs only grows...

@Kilrah  I paid around 30-40€ per board incl. shipping and taxes. Definitely not cheap but still reasonable.

I like it because it gets more right than wrong: LCD with buttons on the side, CAN, Ethernet + Wifi and arduino compatible header. The pmod are nice to have but not a killer feature.

5 minutes ago, Kilrah said:

Do they need to be updated?

The LVGL tutorial provides a starting point, the layout/hardware documentation doesn't change and Renesas will work on their tool chain. If you use RT-thread there is a premade config for it that will be supported in each new release.

Renesas RA6M3 was released in 2020 meaning I expect it to be active well into the 2030s.

Btw. I am not sure when ST last updated the STM32F103 nucleo examples.

Btw. Renesas recently bought Altium ... not sure how I feel about this. Definitely a big player and with the Arduino Uno R4 they are headed towards hobby/beginner.

This isn't the worst of them. For ICs it has the MCU and wifi module. All functional parts that make sense.

One of my favourite dev boards of all time is the Arrow Deca. This has countless of those TI showcase parts in an absurd collection/configuration. Why do i like it? If this is what it takes to make a $50 FPGA board I take it and just ignore those TI parts.

People never go out of business.
