Dating your best friend is one of the most dangerous decisions you can make because there is a real possibility that if there ever were to be a breakup, you lose everything. I know I did and several others around the world, I'm sure.

 

Currently in a relationship with someone that's going on 3 years now, so don't worry about the above statement. I'm just pointing out that the quote is flawed and giving a reality check.

I am in the friend zone with a few of the girls that I'm friends with (and I know a couple of them like me), but I was. So. FUCKING. CLOSE. With one of them. Almost got a kiss, but then her mom picked her up from school. :(

 

We're still friends, but I don't think I'll make it back to the kiss. It gets awkward as hell when everyone else leaves and it's just the two of us at lunch.

The friendzone is only a thing because apparently all guys expect something romantic,etc. from being in a friendship with someone of the opposite sex.

Actually no, it's because we'd expect it would make more sense to date someone your already close with, whom you can actually trust, instead of the constant stream of douchebags they actually end up dating. Not to mention that we don't really intend to be " just friends" in the first place. Women don't seem to understand that to actually have a succesfull relationship, you have to be friends above all else (talk to any long lasting married couple EVER and you will find this to be true)

I build relationships around a health balance of conflict and friendship.  That way you aren't suprised when either shows up on your door step.  But I was never also really the type to devolope a best friend type of relationship with a women.  Friends with plenty.  Best friends not so much.  If I got that far along with them usually I would end up asking them out or something if that makes any sense.  In which case it usually exploded within 3-6 months in a pit of rage and dispear but it was fun while it lasted.

Yeah it was certainly nice that we BOTH shared in women in the same way. My last girlfriend broke up with her girlfriend when she decided to see me, she really missed her though and was almost asking if i would go out with them both, but then she decided that ship had sailed and we were together for a long time
