Why you shouldn't buy a PNY card.

Captain3xtreme

It's as simple as this: I bought a 770 4gb PNY card from amazon, it had a defective fan so I did an RMA to PNY and they returned to me unfixed after about 20 days claiming it had passed their tests. Luckily the amazon seller is doing the right thing and is going to exchange the card for me. I sent an email to PNY about a week ago urging them to make it right but I have not received a response yet so I'm assuming they're ignoring me.

Just be warned that if you buy a PNY card don't expect their warranty to cover anything except a complete failure of the GPU apparently.

I only have a PNY flash drive. That's it. Otherwise, they can die in a hole.

This makes me want to make a thread called "Why you shouldn't buy a 4GB 770".

But yeah, this sounds like BS thanks for the heads up, if a broken fan passes their tests then their tests aren't worth existing IMO.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 4GB 770. The stupid myth that it can't use the extra VRAM needs to die already.

Wow that is bad but PNY should be one of the best brands they have been around for ages and are one of the few that make the Professional grade cards like Tesla and Quadro i would of though there warranty would of had to be one of the best :S

Something else I forgot to include was that I specifically mentioned in the RMA form that the fan near the inputs was broken but that still wasn't enough to catch their attention apparently.

EVGA has been known for awesome customer support. I sent back a faulty 8500GT before, and they couldn't fix it or find another 8500GT so they sent me a 9500GT instead.

lol. I don't see why people always hate on low end cards like GT 610. At least it's better then integrated graphics (unless you have a higher end APU). Everybody on forums when somebody asks about a low to mid range graphics card always tells the OP to "spend a bit more and get a better card". Isn't that the case with any graphics card? My HTPC doesn't have integrated graphics on the motherboard (AM3) and I bought a GT 730 for it for a good deal. I could have gotten a 780 Ti, but that wouldn't give me any better performance when all I do is watch movies.

From what I've seen most of the support is pretty bad. I usually just buy from Amazon as if it's faulty they just refund me and get someone to pick it up no questions asked.

I found that after a year of using it was that with one monitor, my integrated chip did better.

But with dual-monitors it was much better, and the Nvidia control panel is much better if you have two monitors that are different heights.

If you want to take some stress off a crappy CPU, a cheap GPU would be very good.

b..but integrated can watch movies too :(

The HD4000 desktop beats GT610 :P, HD3000 about the same :)

(And doesn't cost £30).

I'm glad I didn't buy my 770 from there. If it had came doa and they sent the card back broken again. I would call them and scream at them like crazy, as well as literally force them to send me a new card xD

or evga the best for rma and warranty

I have to agree with this post. I am looking for a new GPU and this time i contacted the company and EVGA assured me via e-mail that there is no problem with watercooling, OCing or making a custom BIOS for their GPU and it DOES NOT void the warranty and this is why i am going to by EVGA from now on.

Some people keep saying that PNY and ZOTAC are good brands but a product is only as good as the support given after purchase IMO. I can say that in the western part of the world GALAXY sucks once you do not live in the US/Canada.

I wish NZXT made GPUs their support for non-US/Canadian customers is top tier.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I can swear by the evga's warranty.  They exchanged  two cards so far without a hitch at no cost out of my pocket for shipping it back to them.  Also the last exchange, they sent me even a better card.  Had the 670ftw and they sent 670 SC 4gb edition.  Evga only sends refurbished cards for exchange not new ones which is understandable.
