Corsair "Linus Edition" SP120 and SP140 LED Fans

4Strings

post-279-0-74497400-1402937192.png

Corsair has finally listened to Linus and released fully-fledged LED SP120 and SP140 fans!

As stated in their Blog:

Just like the Carbide Air 240, these are products that had a pretty healthy demand internally, to say nothing of the periodic prodding we got from you. The SP Series LED fans are bringing more than just lighting to our traditional SP fans...

And we all know what they mean by "to say nothing of the periodic prodding we got from you"...

The fans will feature "redesigned rotors for improved efficiency [and] tuned for low noise."

Apparently these fans were announced at Computex, but it seems that no one noticed them what with all the hype over the RGB keyboards and Corsair's competitor to the NZXT Kraken G10...

The fans will be available next month.

But does "redesigned rotors for improved efficiency [and] tuned for low noise." actually mean they will work well or...?

I guess we'll find out soon.

I doubt they'll be anywhere near as quiet as Noctuas, but every decibel counts I guess.. :)

Just a heads up, this is not a repost This are SP LED fans so they are new.

Linus made a Video before on the AF LED fans.

Yes. I know. But Linus always said that he prefers the SPs because static pressure is more versatile than just airflow.

And that if Corsair maid LED SP120s they should be called "Linus Edition".

I care only for industrial Noctuas now, and I hate LEDs.

I agree. Dem Noctuas are the dictionary definition of "badass".

But still, for those that do like LED fans but were always stuck with just the APs, I suppose this is a godsend.

yeah i know, i just wanted to throw it out there incase someone read "LED and Corsair fan" but not the SP part

You´d be surprised how many people don't bother reading the whole thing! Even if its only 3-5 rows of text! :(

I suppose those would require something like Corsair Link or an LED controller of some sort though, so the price would probably be a lot higher...

Yeah but i would still buy them, it would be nice if it was like a pack of 4 and an included fan controller.

Beats me... Sorry.

All Corsair said in their blog is "next month", so hopefully that's worldwide and not just in the US.

Ages ago on a WAN show they had a guest from Corsair, and Linus said "I have an idea that you are not doing and I think you should, I'll tell you after the show", I've been wondering what that was about recently so I wonder if these fans are that, or was it something different?

I am pretty psyched to see SP140's! I am unlikely to ever use an LED fan but I love the pressure 140's. About damn time corsair!

Why do the LED fans not have the rubber mounts or coloured rings?
Good question... For the colored rings I would say that it's because Corsair deemed them unnecessary considering that the LEDs are colorful enough... But they have no excuse to leave out the rubber corners. I just hope that the images are just renders, and that the final fans will have them. If the don't, I don't care how "silence optimized" the motors are...
