I wonder if Ubisoft and other devs would implement something similar to the following:

 

Pirate the game, but whenever it's running you're going to have multiple miners running, sending digital currency back to us.

 

Buy the game through an official distributor, no miners running.

 

If the game is running on an offline computer, just take up CPU resources. Run dummy threads, use more inefficient code, etc. Bog down their CPU unless the game is an official copy.

Idk guys. I know all of you anti-pirates are gonna be quick to jump on the "it's about fucking time" bandwagon and all, but in the file name on utorrent "SKIDROWCRACK" is included, and my computer does not contain the files the person speaks of, nor has it been using any more of my cpu than it usually does. Pretty sure this affected a very small number of people who do not know how to safely torrent.

1) It's not stealing

2) I never said I personally would pirate it. My friend is going to buy two GTX 760s so he will get two copies. I'll probably just buy one of his copies if I feel like playing the game once he gets his cards. I don't really care enough about the game to even pirate it. If my friends says it's good and I can get it for a good price from my friend then I might get it.

3) I think not buying the game is a good way to send a message that this business practice should not be tolerated, yes.

I downloaded it but that's it. I was hoping to demo it before deciding to buy or trash it. This kind of sucks. I don't think I'll be buying it now because I've been skeptical about the game since day 1

I was thinking something similar, but different.

 

That they would allow you to run the pirated version but you would have to run the miner for X amount of hours in accordance with the percentage of the game you completed.

So if you complete 30% of the game in one session you must mine 30% of the games retail price before starting the next session.

I highly doubt a group like SKIDROW give a shit what happens to people on public torrent sites. In fact they're probably happy 'cause from what I've heard (in the past), these 'scene' groups aren't exactly big fans of anyone outside their little circle using their stuff. (Not trying to be argumentative, just felt like mentioning that.)

Well i've had the game pre-ordered for a month now, i downloaded the torrent and didn't get any miner on my system.

This leaked build does have severe performance issues though and most of the video settings a bugged like the Temporal SMAA dropping framerate by 25% and MSAA x2 having no drop and looking exactly the same visually, HBAO+ also has performance issues, game is using too much VRAM...etc.

Also it's 13gb when the PC version was confirmed to be 25 by Ubisoft, different languages wouldn't account for all of it, Ubisoft stated the PC version was 5GB larger than the consoles because of more visual effects and high res textures.

 

It shouldn't be representative of the actual release, every single gaming news site that covered footage didn't mention once that it was done with the leaked, pirate version.

 

But it's not as downgraded as people think, all the footage you see out there isn't using the highest settings, there's stuff missing in the menu that's activated in the .cfg.

Currently valid Watch_Dogs pirate versions are for consoles. I think it will take 2-3 hours to crack uPlay and start seeding it to the world

Not sure what you mean by valid, i got the game pre-ordered but downloaded the leaked build which is supposedly the retail PC build.

I actually own a pirated Watch Dogs copy on my PC and have no problems playing it. TPTB was the releaser.

 

Instead of hating on me, let me explain. I live in Estonia - a low wealth country in Northern Europe. My mom raises me and my twin sister alone solely on a 400 euro budget. And not to forget, this doesnt include food, communal and other necessary expenses. I cant justify spending some of that money on a videogame. I am forced to pirate (I love gaming).

 

I am also finishing up high school and going to the university in the fall, so getting a seperate job for me is out of the question.

lol I avoided this one because pre release cracks for PC games are highly fishy to me.
