32" monitor

testcy

What resolution do you recommend for a 32" monitor? I am looking for a 4K monitor, but also thinking how usable would be one with a lower resolution. What would be the recommended scaling in windows in each case?

This really depends on how big you want your text. I use 4k 27 in monitors at 100%, so it really depends on the person. Others often use those at 150% or 200%

I find 32 in 1440p to be pretty pixelated, so I'd go 4k at least, with 6k like the prodisplay xdr probably being better if you can. But if your playing games 1440p can be fine.

I wouldn't go below 4k personally, but I'd also look at a 43" monitor for 4k.

32" is a nice size for 4k.

My personal opinion is that 1440p is too low resolution for that size. 1440p is maximum 27" for me.

If we are talking about 16:9 monitors.

I have a 28" 4K and I find 150% to be small, how is it possible to use a 27" 4K at 100%? I don't play games, but I surely don't want to buy a monitor that is pixelated.

If you don't play games, there is even more reason to go for higher resolution in my opinion.

I use 125% on my 4k 32".

Only option I have at a reasonable price is Samsung M70B, but wouldn't this be pixelated at 43"?

Yes, 16:19 unless I should also consider something else?

Is 125% the recommended windows scaling?

I use a 42in 4k monitor on my main desktop. Its the same PPI as a 21 in 1080p monitor, so pretty normal for desktop use when its a bit farther away. Its actaully a higer dpi than a 1440p 32in monitor. Great for lots of desktop space.

It'll have better PPI than a 1440p 32".

I haven't had issues with it in 99%+ cases, and those that have, that is mostly installers, or old shitty programs. (MySQL Workbench for example) And I think those would have issues(blurry) on 150% scaling too.

You can turn off scaling on individual programs, so that they specifically become 100% scaling for those.

I would say at least 2560x1600 for 32" , 4K would be reasonable.  As for needing to use scaling, that depends on the distance between the monitor and your eyes, and how good your eyes are.

UI size is totally dependent on you.

I use 32-inch 4K monitors at 125% scaling on Windows and "3360x1890" on MacOS.

For 32", I will go for 4K. To me 32" seems nice size but no nice resolution suite for it in 100% scale, at least not for me.

4K in 100% scale for 32" is too small for me, and 1440p is too big for me. 😅

You should probably tell us why you're considering that monitor out of any other monitor on the market..

Product page for lurkers

https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/smart-monitors/43-m70b-uhd-usb-c-smart-monitor-streaming-tv-ls43bm702unxza/

It's an interesting monitor with Smart TV functionality.

It has an HDMI (ARC) port which is not something you'll find on 99% of other monitors. That means, instead of buying desktop speakers, you can buy a soundbar with HDMI in/outputs instead.

On the flip-side, if you're using desktop speakers and they're plugged into your PC as a source, then the monitor will NOT output the sound to your speakers. They will rely on the built-in monitor speakers when viewing content that uses the monitor's built-in smart apps.

43-inch screens are great for working at 100% scaling. It's what I do on Windows and MacOS. I also feel like a 1337 hacker being able to put so many windows on the screen and being able to read all of them.

It's an affordable 4K 43" monitor. That's it.

You're not going to see people praise it like a beautiful OLED or a 360Hz gaming beast.

Probably not, but those are two or three times the price and not widely available.
